The Rush: Serena’s magical U.S. Open run continues with epic win over No.2 Kontaveit
Serena Williams defeated world No.2 Anett Kontaveit in an epic second-round match at the U.S. Open. Williams served up vintage Serena in the match which went three sets over two-and-a-half hours. The WNBA Semifinals are off to a hot start with the Chicago Sky and Las Vegas Aces bouncing back from Game 1 upsets on their home courts with victories in Game 2 against the Connecticut Sun and Seattle Storm, respectively, to even up their series. Plus, Serena Williams had some famous faces boisterously cheering her on in her player’s box at the U.S. Open.

JARED QUAY: If you all came here for a Serena Williams' retirement celebration, today ain't the day.

JARED QUAY: Queen Serena faced off against the second ranked player in the world in their second round match at the US Open. Serena and Anett Kontaveit delivered all the drama with crazy rallies, a 20-point game, and the first set being decided by a tie break. Serena took the first set, and was subsequently smoked by Kontaveit in the second.
- So good with that.
JARED QUAY: So it all came down to a third and final set, where Serena laid a vintage smackdown on the second best player in the world. To say the crowd was on Serena's side would be an understatement. But check out who was causing a ruckus in the player's box, the golf goat Tiger Woods. Tiger, Tiger Woods. Tiger was at the open with his girlfriend Erica Herman. And I wonder if they ran into his ex Lindsey Vonn out in the concourse. Awkward. Anyways, Tiger, Venus, and Serena are out here proving that 40 is the new 25. And they aren't the only oldies but goodies doing big things in sports these days.

JARED QUAY: The WNBA semifinals are well underway, as the Aces pulled even with the Seattle Storm with a game 2 victory in Vegas.

JARED QUAY: Sue Bird is 41 years old, but out here hustling in the playoffs. And so is the 36-year-old Candace Parker.

JARED QUAY: After Connecticut got the upset win on the road in Chicago in game 1, CP3 reminded the Sun who the defending WNBA champs are in game 2. The Sky even their series with the Sun, led by Parker, who dazzled with 22 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. Serena, Sue, CP3, the Renaissance is real y'all. These women have combined for 29 pro championships, eight Olympic gold medals, and with Serena and Sue headed for retirement, can I get a four more years chant? Four more years. Four more years. Four more years.
