The Rush: Nets, T-Wolves win close Play-In Tourney games over Cavs, Clippers

The NBA Play-In Tournament has begun and the Brooklyn Nets took care of business against the Cleveland Cavaliers thanks to Kyrie Irving making his first 12 shots. Over in the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Clippers despite Karl-Anthony Towns missing his first seven shots and fouling out with over seven minutes left to play in the 4th quarter. PLUS: There are TWO reasons the Timberwolves - Clippers game will be known as The Glue Game.

- Garland on a breakaway. Durant right there. Garland, can't finish it. Durant denies him again. Patty Mills on the break. Three on one. Kyrie. And it goes.

JARED QUAY: Well, what do you know. The Brooklyn Nets handled their business against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the play-in tournament to secure the seventh seed. All it took was 12 straight made shots from Kyrie Irving before missing his first one in the fourth quarter. That would be a playoff record, but the play-ins aren't considered the playoffs. I know. It's weird.

- Last shot. Irving behind the back, trying to get free. Does so. And there it is. A perfect half for Kyrie Irving.

JARED QUAY: Kevin Durant added a cool 25 points and 11 assists.

- And there's his first one. And it's good. Right on cue. Good call, Coach.

JARED QUAY: And I just want to point out that Kyrie is fasting for Ramadan and still dropped 34 points and 12 assists. But you're telling me it took near perfect games for the Nets dynamic duo to beat the Cavaliers by a measly seven points?

- Well, when you put it like that--

JARED QUAY: Not to mention both KD and Kyrie played over 40 minutes. So it might take the pair playing all 48 minutes in every game for the Nets to have a chance against the second-seed Boston Celtics.

- I'm just saying.

JARED QUAY: Meanwhile, the Cavaliers' playoff hopes are still alive as they'll play the winner of the Hornets-Hawks game.

- Never give up.

JARED QUAY: The play-in game between the Clippers and Timberwolves was crazy. T-Wolves star Karl-anthony Towns pulled a reverse Kyrie, starting the game 0 for 7 and then fouling out with over seven minutes left in the fourth quarter. And surprise, surprise, the Timberwolves went on a huge run after KAT left, with Anthony Edwards and D'Angelo Russell doing most of the damage.

- Russell for the lead.

JARED QUAY: And like a scorned lover, ex clipper Mr. Pat Beverley sealed the win with a steal before flexing in front of Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. In fact, ultimate glue guy Beverley went for WWE at the end of the game. We should also mention there was an incident involving an actual glue in the second quarter.

- Not sure if she fainted or fell.

- I was just told by security that she apparently had glue, and she glued herself to the floor.

JARED QUAY: So let's go ahead and name this game "The Glue Game." The Timberwolves will play the Grizzlies in the first round, while the Clippers will fight for their playoff lives against the winner of the Spurs-Pelicans play-in game. Honestly, they should just make the play-in games part of the playoffs because these games are intense as hell. You never know what's going to happen. You could be up about 40 points and your team loses by 12.
