The Rush: Myles, Mason and Ben benched...oh my!
The final week of the NFL regular season is bringing all kinds of drama! The Steelers are resting Ben Roethlisberger, thus the Helmetgate rematch between Mason Rudolph and Myles Garrett is going down on Sunday and might increase the Browns’ chances at a playoff berth. Also trying to make the postseason with a win in Week 17 are the Rams, who will be shorthanded without Jared Goff and Cooper Kupp, and signed another quarterback off the scrap heap. Plus, Panthers OT Russell Okung became the first NFL player to get paid in Bitcoin...until he didn’t.

JARED QUAY: Christmas is coming a week late for the Cleveland Browns. They're getting a gift from someone you never would expect. Mike Tomlin said the Steelers are gonna rest Ben Roethlisberger for their week 17 match against the Browns. Now if the Browns win, they get into the playoffs. And the odds of that happening go way up with Big Ben on the bench.
But y'all know what this really means. We get to see the Mason Rudolph revenge game. The Steelers backup will face the Browns for the first time since getting hit in the head with his own helmet by Myles Garrett last year.
MASON RUDOLPH: I'm not going to back down from any bully out there, so we'll see what happens. I don't know.
JARED QUAY: There's also a quarterback situation in Los Angeles.
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR: We have a situation.
JARED QUAY: The Rams are going to attempt to earn a playoff spot with a win against the Cardinals in week 17. But they're going to be without Cooper Kupp, who's on the COVID list, and Jared Goff, who broke his thumb last week. But they must've signed Dwayne Haskins on waivers, right?
- Nope.
JARED QUAY: Oh, they must've got Kurt Warner to come out of retirement, right?
- Nah.
JARED QUAY: Wait, what was that? The Rams signed Blake Bortles?
[CAMERA CLICKING]
AGENT J: Hell no.
JARED QUAY: If Kyler Murray starts for the Cardinals, the Rams got as much chance in that game as I got getting my paycheck in Bitcoin. Russell Okung made history yesterday-- almost. See, back in 2019, the Panthers offensive tackle tweeted that he wanted to get paid in Bitcoin. Yesterday, it seemed he got his wish with this report right here. The big man even confirmed it himself.
[CASH REGISTER RINGING]
But just hours later, the NFL and the Panthers clarified that Okung's salary will be deposited into his bank account in US dollars, then converted to Bitcoin.
- We're so close and yet so far.
JARED QUAY: My man really loves Bitcoin. Just look at all these tweets. Bitcoin is even in his Twitter bio.
