Runner-up finish fuels Maybank back to state finals, Cheboygan golf girls take sixth
STANWOOD – Katie Maybank will be heading to the state finals one more time.
The Cheboygan senior golfer qualified for the MHSAA Division 3 finals by firing an 82 and tying for second overall at a Division 3 regional meet hosted by Remus Chippewa Hills on Tuesday.
Maybank’s runner-up finish led the Cheboygan girls (411), who fell short of qualifying as a team after finishing sixth overall.
As for Maybank, she’ll compete in the fourth state meet of her career.
As a freshman and sophomore, she was a part of Cheboygan teams who qualified in 2020 and 2021.
