Roundup: Rhoads sets Granville Christian girls basketball 3-point mark

Ella Rhoads buried a trio of 3-pointers Tuesday, eclipsing 100 for her career and becoming the Granville Christian girls basketball team’s all-time leader in a 38-16 victory against visiting Northside Christian (0-8, 0-7) in Mid-Ohio Athletic League play.

Rhoads totaled 11 points and now sits at 101 3s. Skyler Weekley added 11 points and Isabel Hamilton 8 as the Lions (6-6, 3-4) allowed just four points in the second half to seal the win.

Johnstown wins at Heath

Johnstown built a 28-16 halftime lead and was able to maintain it for a 50-41 victory at Heath in Licking County League-Cardinal Division play.

Abigail Adkins and Lauren Baughman scored 17 points apiece to lead the Johnnies (10-5, 7-2), who host first-place Newark Catholic on Saturday. Kylie Sharp added 11 points.

Kerilyn Davis led the Bulldogs (7-6, 3-5) with 16 points. Peyton Del Cecato added 15 points.

Liberty drops home game

Shelby Carr totaled 9 points and 27 rebounds for Liberty Christian in a 36-17 loss to visiting Madison Christian (11-2, 6-0) in MOCAL play.

Savanna Yadon added 6 points and Katelyn Nestor three steals for the Eagles (1-13, 1-5).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Utica wins at NC

Roman Gamble piled up 16 of his 22 points in the second half, sending Utica to a 58-41 victory at Newark Catholic in LCL-Cardinal play.

Hunter McKinney added 10 points and Gavin Chinn and Dylan Yates 9 apiece for Utica (4-7, 2-4).

Griffin Urdarovski, Owen Helms and Alex Nagel scored 9 points each for the Green Wave (1-10, 0-7).

Northridge fends off Lakewood

Braden Knerr distributed eight assists for Northridge in a 43-35 victory at Lakewood in LCL-Cardinal play.

Carter Mallernee led the Vikings (9-3, 5-2) with 15 points. Drew Bingham added 11 points, Ethan Payne 9 points, eight rebounds and six blocks and Alex Quinlan two blocks.

Colton Ferry’s 17 points led the Lancers (5-7, 1-5), who trailed just 22-20 at halftime. Kolin Watson added 8 points.

Heights rallies on road

Licking Heights stormed back from a 26-10 halftime deficit to earn a 36-34 victory at St. Charles.

Alieu Ceesay’s 10 points led the Hornets (10-2), who visit Watkins Memorial on Friday in a battle between the top two teams in the LCL-Buckeye. Joel Busker added all 7 of his points in the second half.

Minier lifts Liberty

Kaden Minier scored 38 points, powering Liberty Christian to a 62-49 victory over visiting Madison Christian (1-12, 0-6) in MOCAL play.

Minier buried four 3-pointers and was 10 for 14 from the foul line for the Eagles (4-7, 2-4). Carson Crabtree and Luke Mollohan added 9 points apiece and Caleb Reichert 10 rebounds.

GCA falls at home

A 23-14 edge in the third quarter for visiting Northside Christian (10-3, 6-1) sent Granville Christian to a 66-46 defeat in MOCAL play.

Thad Hartshorn led the Lions (5-7, 2-5) with 10 points. Andrew Benvie and Zack Stump added 9 points apiece.
