Rory McIlroy cruised to dominant win at RBC Canadian Open, broke out Raptors jersey on final green
Rory McIlroy cruised to a win on Sunday at the RBC Canadian Open, thanks to nine birdies and an eagle in his final round.
As he walked off the final green with a seven-shot win in hand, McIlroy started celebrating with the fans at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ontario the best way he knew how.
He broke out a Kyle Lowry jersey.

He then threw the jersey on and made a bold prediction — one that Toronto fans in attendance went wild for.
“Raptors in five!” he yelled.

McIlroy sure picked a good time to hop on the Raptors bandwagon, too. Lowry and the Raptors are up 3-1 in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, and can bring home the organization’s first championship on Monday night in Game 5 at Scotiabank Arena.
Naturally, Raptors fans have been celebrating all week.

Shane Lowry and Webb Simpson finished tied in second place at 15-under par, seven shots back from McIlroy’s 22-under finish. Brandt Snedeker and Matt Kuchar finished two back at 13-under. Canadian Adam Hadwin — who entered Sunday just one shot back in a great position to snap Canada’s 65-year drought at the event — finished in sixth place at 12-under.
So not only did McIlroy pick up a massive confidence boost with his win at the RBC Canadian Open heading into next week’s U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, he appears to have picked up an entirely new fanbase full of nearly 38 million people, too.
