Report: Suns reach deal with French PG Okobo

Elie Okobo, the top pick in the second round of this week's NBA draft, reportedly reached a contract agreement with the Phoenix Suns.

The 20-year-old French point guard and the Suns settled on a four-year, $6 million rookie contract, Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania reported Sunday. According to Charania, Okposo has two guaranteed years for a total of more than $2.6 million, with the Suns holding options for the third and fourth seasons.

Okobo was selected 31st overall on Thursday. He was the third-highest draft pick among players arriving in the United States from international teams, after Luka Doncic of Slovenia (third overall to the Atlanta Hawks) and Dzanan Musa of Bosnia and Herzegovina (29th overall to the Brooklyn Nets).

Last season, Okobo averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game for Pau-Lacq-Orthez in France.

Okobo's playing time as a rookie might hinge on a decision the Suns need to make this week regarding point guard Tyler Ulis. A deadline on whether the team will fully guarantee Ulis' $1.54 million salary for 2018-19 was pushed back to June 30.

Ulis, 22, averaged 7.8 points and 4.4 assists in 71 games (43 starts) for Phoenix in 2017-18. As a rookie second-round pick the previous season, he averaged 7.3 points and 3.7 assists.

The Suns also have point guards Brandon Knight, 26, and Shaquille Harrison, 24, on the roster.
