Report: Sixers also waiving Isaiah Joe after 2 seasons with the team

The Philadelphia 76ers had some tough roster decisions to make after the preseason ended on Wednesday as they had to get their roster down to the NBA limit of 15. Considering the depth and the veterans on their roster, it makes sense that the young guys are getting released.

After releasing Charles Bassey, the Sixers will also release Isaiah Joe after two seasons with the team. Joe was the 49th pick in the 2020 draft and he averaged 3.7 points and shot 34.9% from deep for the team.

Considering Joe had a non-guaranteed contract, like Bassey, it makes sense as to why Philadelphia made this move. Joe is a talented young guard who will eventually get another opportunity in this league due to his shooting ability.

Coach Doc Rivers explained on Wednesday that the team has a logjam at the guard spots. Guys like Furkan Korkmaz, De’Anthony Melton, Danuel House Jr., Shake Milton, and Matisse Thybulle are all ahead of Joe at the moment. He needs to go to a team that will give him a bigger role and opportunity to develop and grow.
