Report: Sixers have interest in Bulls’ Andre Drummond at the deadline

The trade deadline in the NBA is approaching rather quickly as the 3 p.m. EST trade buzzer on Thursday is right around the corner. Now is the time for the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the other 29 teams in the league, to figure out what the next step is toward title contention.

The Sixers have an extremely tough situation on their hands in the midst of Joel Embiid’s meniscus injury in his left knee. The big fella will miss at least a month due to the procedure he had to undergo and President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey now has to figure out the next move to keep the Sixers afloat until Embiid can return.

One of those moves could be reuniting with a former big man. Per Marc Stein via his Substack, the Sixers have registered interest in Chicago Bulls center Andre Drummond:

The 76ers, I’m told, have indeed registered interest Chicago’s Andre Drummond, joining the likes of Boston and Dallas. Drummond is widely regarded as the Most Likely Bull To Be Traded this week after literally months of trade speculation in the Windy City.

Drummond is averaging 7.9 points and 8.5 rebounds off Chicago’s bench and he would be a perfect fill-in player until Embiid can return. He would also be a terrific backup option for when the reigning league MVP returns. He would be a terrific deadline addition for Philadelphia.

Stein also mentioned that the Sixers are looking for shooting as he mentioned Detroit Pistons veteran Bojan Bogdanovic as an obvious option. He’s shooting 41.5% from deep for the dreadful Pistons on the season, but Detroit’s asking price is high per Stein:

League sources say that the Pistons continue to demand a future first-round pick for Bogdanović while also letting teams know that their preference is to keep him. If Detroit holds firm there, it would be the second consecutive deadline that it refused to part with Bogdanović.

Both Drummond and Bogdanovic would be terrific deadline additions if Morey could swing it. The Sixers need some help in order to keep Philadelphia afloat without the big fella.
