Report: Jordan Addison expected to play in preseason opener

The much-anticipated debut of Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is here.

According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, Addison is expected to play some in the Vikings’ preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.

How much Addison plays is unclear, but if he follows the trend of other supposed starters, Addison will likely only receive a few drives at the beginning of the game. However, Kevin O’Connell and the staff may give Addison extra playing time because he’s a rookie.

Regardless, Addison will be watched closely as the Vikings line up on offense. Addison enters an offense that chose to release long-time veteran Adam Thielen, replacing him with a youth movement with Addison.

While it hasn’t been completely smooth for Addison, the transition from college to the NFL has come with little turbulence, as he’s impressed during training camp.

Addison, the Vikings’ first-round pick in April, is listed as a second-teamer on the team’s unofficial depth chart but is expected to gain significant playing time during the regular season.
