Report: Some influential people at LSU are high on Mel Tucker, could try to lure him from Michigan State

LSU coach Ed Orgeron has been on the hot seat much of the season as his Tigers already have 3 losses on the year. That seat got a little cooler on Saturday when his squad knocked off No. 20 Florida, but unless his team can get a few more high-profile wins, it might be the end of Orgeron’s time at LSU.

That’s where this gets interesting, and a little scary, for Michigan State fans. Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports and The Athletic reported early on Saturday that some influential people inside of LSU are extremely high on MSU coach Mel Tucker. That would certainly imply that, if the Tigers do move on from Orgeron, Tucker would at least be included in their coaching search.

Now, Mel Tucker already jumped from Colorado to Michigan State after a short tenure, so it would be fairly shocking if he did it again to go to LSU. But that LSU job is one of the top jobs in the country and they will certainly roll out the Brinks truck to entice their top candidate to come down south.

Interestingly, Mel Tucker was an assistant with LSU under Nick Saban, another Michigan State coach who was lured to LSU after a short stint with the Spartans.

It is important to note that Tucker has done nothing but praise MSU and call it his dream job multiple times, so this is complete speculation based on a potential coaching wish list from prominent LSU decision-makers.
