Report: Dolphins QB Teddy Bridgewater clears concussion protocol, can back up Skylar Thompson

After being knocked out of their Week 5 game against the New York Jets on the very first offensive play, Miami Dolphins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had to spend this week in concussion protocol.

He was unable to be involved in full team drills this week, but David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has reported that Bridgewater cleared concussion protocol Saturday morning. This is excellent news coming just off of the news that QB Tua Tagovailoa also cleared protocol.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said this week that if Bridgewater were cleared before the game he would be able to perform backup duties and rookie quarterback Skylar Thomspon would still start.

Unless Thompson really struggles or gets hurt, the Week 6 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings will be the rookie’s, but Bridgewater and Tagovailoa could both be back to their normal roles the following week.
