Report: Bills expressed interest in TE Zach Ertz

The Buffalo Bills have been linked with a name the team has been connected to in the past: Tight end Zach Ertz.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills are one of at least four teams to have express interest in him:

Ertz to Buffalo is an idea we’ve heard before.

Last week, the Arizona Cardinals released Ertz. He was subject to waivers but no team picked up his contract and now Ertz is free to sign with any team.

Ertz, 33, has played 12 seasons in the NFL. A bulk of that was with the Philadelphia Eagles, another team interested in re-signing him now, from 2013-2021.

In October 2021, Ertz was traded to the Cardinals and at that time the Bills had expressed interest in him at that time but the deal was nixed by the Eagles.

“There were a couple teams extremely interested, Buffalo being one of them,” Ertz said at the time. “It was almost a done deal, but it just didn’t get over the finish line.”

Ertz to the Bills now seems much less likely with the emergence of first-round rookie Dalton Kincaid combined with Dawson Knox already being at the position. However, Knox is currently on injured reserve due to a wrist injury. That could potentially be more serious if Buffalo does truly have interest in adding Ertz.
