Reigning state champion Metamora boys basketball earns preseason national ranking
Metamora is nationally ranked.
The reigning Class 3A state champs come in at No. 16 in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings. Metamora is the first Peoria-area boys basketball in a national poll since Manual finished No. 1 in the 1997 final USA Today Super 25 rankings.

Metamora beat Chicago Simeon, 46-42, in overtime to win the program's first-ever state championship last March, finishing 34-2. The Redbirds lose three starters to graduation, but return reigning player of the year Tyler Mason and welcome Peoria Notre Dame transfer and Iowa recruit Cooper Koch.

Danny Grieves opens his 13th season as head coach, taking his team to the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions in Washington to face PND at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Columbus High School of Miami, Fla. (26-4) is ranked No. 1 overall after winning a second consecutive FHSAA Class 7A state championship last season. They're led by Gatorade national player of the year Cameron Boozer, the son of former NBA player Carlos Boozer, and Michigan State commit Jase Richardson.
Schools from New York, Virginia, California, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio and Georgia fill out the MaxPreps top 10.
