Region championship game matchups are set, will include five games in Hampton Roads
Five region football championship games will feature Hampton Roads teams this week in some intriguing matchups.
In the Class 5 Region B title game, Warwick’s vaunted defense takes on Maury’s high-powered offense Friday at Powhatan Field in Norfolk. The Raiders (11-1) have surrendered just three touchdowns all season, while Maury (12-0) has scored 34-plus points in 11 of its 12 victories.
In Class 5 Region A, Indian River visits unbeaten Green Run, while Warhill plays Phoebus in a battle of unbeaten teams in Class 4 Region A.
The Class 3 Region A championship pits fifth-seeded Heritage — coming off an upset of No. 1 seed Hopewell — against Lafayette at Wanner Stadium in Williamsburg.
Poquoson hosts Amelia County for the Class 2 Region A championship.
