Ready to roar: 6 Hartselle baseball players make college choices

Nov. 8—HARTSELLE — Hartselle's baseball program churned out six more college signees Wednesday afternoon.

Peyton Steele (Alabama), Jo Williamson (Alabama), Cade Miles (Jacksonville State), Nic Chumley (Lawson State Community College), Cameron Palahach (Northwest Shoals Community College) and Lawson Williams (Northwest Shoals Community College) were celebrated in a ceremony at the high school.

"Iron sharpens iron," Hartselle assistant coach Jake Miles said. "When you have good players that challenge each other and push each other every day, good things happen."

The Tigers have had seven players sign with Division I schools in the last three years, six of which went to the SEC. Neither Steele nor Williamson wavered on their long-time commitments to the Crimson Tide.

"I was never going anywhere but Alabama," Steele said. "Their coaches are amazing and they never made it just about me, but my family as well."

But that doesn't mean the players are going to forget what got them to the college level.

"What we do (at Hartselle) is unmatched," Williamson said. "The work we put in every day has prepared us for this next step."

And now, the six can turn their attention to the high school season.

"This what what we've been striving for and now that we've hit it," Cade Miles said, "it's time to finish our senior year on a high note and just go have fun."

Other notable signings from Wednesday:
