Raptors agree to multi-year contracts with Boucher, Miller: report

Following an eventful trade deadline day that left the Raptors’ roster a few players short, the team has added some depth up the middle with a familiar face.

Chris Boucher, who had been splitting time between Toronto and the Raptors 905 on a two-way deal, has signed a multi-year NBA contract that will convert the young centre into a full-time NBA player.

Boucher has played in 16 games with the Raptors this season, averaging 3.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 5.6 minutes per game. The Saint Lucia native, who moved to Montreal when he was just five months old, has been one of the Raptors 905’s best players in 2018-19, averaging 27.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and four blocks in 33.5 minutes per game.

After their lineup was depleted on trade deadline day, the Raptors had to make a move this weekend in order to comply with NBA rules and get their roster up to 11 players. Boucher — who was familiar with the Raptors system, filled a roster need at centre, and could be signed in short order — made immediate sense for the club.

The team also announced it signed small forward Malcolm Miller in a press release. While the term wasn’t disclosed, it is reported to be a multi-year contract, according to Blake Murphy of The Athletic. The 25-year old played 15 games with Toronto last season, and 34 with the organization’s G-League team, Raptors 905.

Toronto figures to be busy in the coming weeks as the team still has two roster spots to fill, with approximately 12 days to do so. The Raptors began to backfill their roster on Saturday when they agreed to a contract with former Sacramento Kings shooting guard Ben McLemore.
