Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist named to Hockey Hall of Fame 2023 Class

Add another notch to the king’s crown.

In his first year on the ballot, Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist has officially been named to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Lundqvist headlines a 2023 class featuring seven new members, including Ken Hitchcock, Pierre Lacroix, Tom Barrasso, Caroline Ouellette, Pierre Turgeon, and Mike Vernon.

The prolific goaltender, who was taken by the Rangers in the 2000 NHL Draft, spent his entire 15-year career in New York. He was a rock in net for the Blueshirts and had his No. 30 retired into the Madison Square Garden rafters.

Lundqvist finished his career with an overall record of 459-310-96, a .243 GAA, .918 save percentage, and 64 shutouts in 887 games.

He was named to the All-Star Game twice and took home the Vezina Trophy following an outstanding 2011-12 season. He was a finalist for the award, which was handed to the top goalie in the league, five different times throughout his career.

Lundqvist is the only goalie in NHL history to record 30 wins in each of his first seven seasons and was the fastest goalie to reach 400 career wins. He currently ranks sixth all time in wins, ninth in games played, and 17th in shutouts.

While he was never able to secure a himself a ring, Lundqvist did carry the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Final three times, including his lone Stanley Cup appearance in 2014.

He was stellar in his career during the postseason, posting a 2.30 GAA, .921 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 130 playoff games.

Internationally, Lundqvist was able to take home three different medals with Team Sweden. He has a pair of gold medals to his name (2006 Torino Olympics and the 2017 IIHF World Championships) and a silver (2014 Sochi Olympics).

Lundqvist and the rest of the class will officially be inducted into the Hall in a ceremony later this year.
