Rams’ Aaron Donald gives retirement teaser on Twitter account

The Arizona Cardinals have had to deal with Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald twice a year for the last nine seasons. Might they never have to face him again?

For a little while on Sunday, it looked like Donald had subtly announced his retirement.

On his Twitter bio, he briefly described himself as a “former NFL D linemen for the Rams #99.”

After it was seen and much was said about it online, he removed the “former” part.

Donald considered retirement last offseason after the Rams won the Super Bowl. He got a new contract and then had a another Pro Bowl season, although he was limited to 11 games because of injuries and had a career-low five sacks.

If he were to retire, it would mark the end of the career of one of the best interior defenders ever to play the game and, together with the retirement of Cardinals defensive lineman J.J. Watt, would make the Hall of Fame class in five years quite impressive.
