Quarterfinals set for Friday in Tallahassee Tennis Challenger at Forestmeadows
If you like long, close tennis matches, you were in for a treat on Thursday at the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger Presented by Visit Tallahassee.
A three hour plus match and a couple matches approaching three hours made for a lot of tennis.
Alexander Ritschard of Switzerland may be 30 years old, but he’s playing the best tennis of his life.
He took almost two hours to take down Bogdan Bobrov in three tough sets.
A bunch of long rallies and Ritschard’s serve ended up being the difference.
“He’s tough,” said Ritschard.
“I was ready for some long points and glad I was able to finish strong.”
No. 2 seed and defending champ, Zizou Bergs of Belgium won a marathon three-setter to advance to the final eight.
