The Boilermakers (6-0) won the Maui Invitational with victories over Gonzaga, Tennessee and Marquette. Zach Edey (23.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.7 blocked shots for the season) earned MVP honors. Braden Smith (12.0 points, 50% 3-pointers, 5.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 2.0 steals), Fletcher Loyer (10.7 points) and Lance Jones (9.5 points, 3.5 assists) lead the backcourt.

The Tigers (0-6) regularly play power conference opponents before their Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule, and they have already played Arizona State, Virginia and Creighton. P.J. Henry (13.3 points) and Jonathan Cisse (8.7 points) lead TSU.
