Decatur-Kent Island is Bayside South football game of the week. Here's the full slate

There are only four weeks of regular-season football left in the Bayside Conference, and this week features one of the biggest games of the season.

Stephen Decatur and Kent Island will face off in a marquee matchup of two of last year's Class 2A State Title contenders, a matchup that will draw a lot of eyes to the results from the Bayside this week. James M. Bennett will look to continue the momentum from their last-second victory over Parkside as they try to beat undefeated North Caroline. And the 4-1 Snow Hill Eagles will look for a signature win over Colonel Richardson, while Parkside and Wi-Hi look for their second wins of the year, and Washington looks for its first.

Bayside South football games to watch and predictions

Here are previews and predictions for a loaded schedule of Bayside South football games:

Arcadia (3-2) at Washington (0-4)

Oct 6 | 6 p.m. | Washington High School

Washington's Xavier Hankerson (4) picks up the kickoff in the endzone against Bennett Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Bennett defeated Washington 32-0.

The Washington Jaguars are still looking for their first win of the season, and their next opportunity to grab that win will be at home this Friday.

The Jaguars will be welcoming Arcadia to Princess Anne, as they make the trip up from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Firebirds are 3-2, with one of those losses coming against Snow Hill just a few weeks ago. Washington on the other hand has struggled this year, failing to reach the end zone in their first four games.

The game against Washington will be a chance for Arcadia to snap a two-game losing streak, and they'll do that with a road win over the Jaguars.

Pick: Arcadia

WEEK 5 HIGHLIGHTS: Thrills abound! Bennett gets big win, Decatur stays unbeaten in Week 5 football highlights

Easton (1-4) at Parkside (1-4)

Oct. 6 | 6 p.m. | Wicomico County Stadium

Parkside's Kerontez Bratten (22) rushes against Bennett Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Bennett defeated Parkside 22-21.
Parkside's Kerontez Bratten (22) rushes against Bennett Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Bennett defeated Parkside 22-21.

The matchup between Easton and Parkside will see two Bayside teams that have struggled so far this year try to get back in the win column.

Easton, currently on a four-game losing streak after winning their opening game, is coming off of a three-week stretch where it faced the Bayside's top three teams so far this year in Stephen Decatur, Kent Island and North Caroline. Easton will be looking at the Parkside matchup as an opportunity to finally grab a win after such a tough stretch of games.

Parkside, coming off their late loss to Bennett last week, has found production from playmakers like Elijah Donaldson, Kerontez Bratten and Cameron Johnson throughout the year, as they have been able to find the end zone for the Rams in key moments of many of their games.

The Rams will have home-field advantage in this one, but Easton will be the team to grab their second win of the year.

Pick: Easton

Snow Hill (4-1) at Colonel Richardson (2-3)

Oct. 6 | 6 p.m.

Snow Hill quarterback Zyheem Collick throws a pass in the 2nd quarter of their match up against Stephen Decatur Friday night in Berlin.
Snow Hill quarterback Zyheem Collick throws a pass in the 2nd quarter of their match up against Stephen Decatur Friday night in Berlin.

Snow Hill grabbed a convincing 41-0 victory over Washington last week, defeating the Jaguars at home and bouncing back from their first loss of the season. Now, Snow Hill will face another tough test at Colonel Richardson.

The Colonels have been consistently one of the Bayside's top 1A football teams, and a win over the Colonels would be a big one for the Eagles, as they hope to continue their trajectory into the second half of the season. Snow Hill, led by playmakers like Zyheem Collick and Tyler Reddick, will hope to continue putting a lot of points on the board as they have all year, as they look to move to 5-1.

This game is a tough one to pick, but Snow Hill will pick up another signature win in their Bayside Campaign, and continue their pursuit of being the top 1A Bayside team, defeating Colonel Richardson on the road.

Pick: Snow Hill

Wicomico (1-4) at Cambridge-South Dorchester (3-2)

Oct 6 | 6 p.m.

Wi-Hi's Aiden Farmer (25) rushes against Kent Island Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Kent Island defeated Wi-Hi 28-0.
Wi-Hi's Aiden Farmer (25) rushes against Kent Island Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Kent Island defeated Wi-Hi 28-0.

It's been a rough first half of the season for Wi-Hi, and it'll look to right the ship this Friday on the road against Cambridge-South Dorchester. After starting off 1-1, close losses to Queen Anne's and North Caroline followed in the next two weeks, with a 28-0 loss to Kent Island last week dropping Wi-Hi to 1-4.

Cambridge stands at 3-2 on the year, with its last two weeks being a 1-point loss to Colonel Richardson, and a blowout win over Kent County. The last time it faced a Wicomico County School this year was in a thrilling road win over Parkside, where Cambridge got a fourth-down stop in the red zone to win the game.

This game could be an opportunity for Wi-Hi to find a rhythm offensively, as it's struggled on that end so far this year. Wi-Hi will snap its three-game losing streak and knock off Cambridge on the road.

Pick: Wicomico

Stephen Decatur (5-0) at Kent Island (5-0)

Oct 6 | 6 p.m.

Decatur's Brycen Coleman (9) rushes against Kent Island Friday, Sept. 17, 2022, in Berlin, Maryland. The Buccaneers defeated the Seahawks 31-14.
Decatur's Brycen Coleman (9) rushes against Kent Island Friday, Sept. 17, 2022, in Berlin, Maryland. The Buccaneers defeated the Seahawks 31-14.

The marquee matchup that Bayside Conference fans have been waiting for all season is set to take place Friday night when two of last year's Class 2A Final Four teams, and arguably the two best teams in the Conference, face off in a battle of unbeatens.

Talent will be all over the field when Stephen Decatur and Kent Island line up on Friday, as both teams feature some of the Eastern Shore's top players. Brycen Coleman has led Decatur once again this season, alongside Gavin Solito, Trybe Wise, Careen Bolden and the Seahawks' deep playmaking options. Kent Island has great talent of its own, with Tucker Claxton, Shane Bogardus and quarterback Gavan Henry leading the way for the Buccaneers.

Kent Island has been a physical team that has often times overpowered opponents, while the Seahawks offense continues to be high-flying. Whichever team imposes its style onto this game could very well end up being the winner.

A game between two teams this good could go either way, but Coleman and Decatur's explosive offense will bring them a huge road win, and a victory in what will likely be the Bayside's biggest game this season.

Pick: Stephen Decatur

James M. Bennett (2-3) at North Caroline (5-0)

Oct 6 | 7 p.m.

Bennett's Liam Nelson (9) in the game against Parkside Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Bennett defeated Parkside 22-21.
Bennett's Liam Nelson (9) in the game against Parkside Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland. Bennett defeated Parkside 22-21.

Fresh off of a huge rivalry game victory over Parkside, the Bennett Clippers are on the road as they prepare for a tough battle against an unbeaten foe.

The North Caroline Bulldogs have been stellar through the first five weeks of the season, taking care of business in both narrow and blowout wins so far this season. Led by quarterback Nasai Bell and receiver Zymear Smith, North Caroline has been able to put together an offense that not a lot of teams can keep pace with, while shutting the opposition out defensively.

The Clippers' big win over Parkside last year was a very impressive one, with quarterback Zakai Smullen making plays all over the field on both ends, and backup quarterback Liam Nelson coming in and leading the drive that led to Gianmarco Second's game-winning field goal. With two wins under its belt, things appear to be looking up for the Bennett program, but North Caroline grabs the win at home this Friday.

Pick: North Caroline
