Prep Wrestling: Hudson wins Southwest Classic

ALLEGAN — Division 4 top-ranked Hudson wrestling started the season strong as it won the Southwest Classic Saturday behind six individual champions.

The Tigers had a team score of 248 with 11 wrestlers making the finals, two from the B-Team .

Colt Perry (103 pounds), Nicholas Sorrow (113), Julien Kimling (120), Cole Marry (138), Austin Marry (144) and Calix Campbell (175) all took first while Kannon Marry (132), Aden Barrett (157) and Logan Sallows (215) were runners-up in their weight classes.

Beckett McCaskey (138) and Logan Ryan (175) both were runners-up in from the Hudson B-Team, which took 12th overall.

Clinton at John Glenn Rocket Duals

WESTLAND — The Division 3, second-ranked Redwolves faced some tough competition and still came out 4-1.

Clinton's lone loss came against Division 1 fourth-ranked Dakota, 50-19.

Prior to the defeat, the Redwolves dominated Rochester (66-18), Southgate Anderson (57-18), Westland John Glenn (48-21) and Waterford Kettering (60-18).

Ethan Younts recorded his 100th win during the tournament.

Blissfield Invite

BLISSFIELD — Madison led the county teams at the Blissfield Invite as the Trojans took second with a score of 228 while Addison took fifth, Blissfield finished sixth, Adrian eighth, Tecumseh 12th and Morenci 18th.

Madison's Lukas Leonard (132) and Addison's Cameron Miller (285) took individual titles.

The Trojans had four other finalists with Malaki Mosher (106), Lucas Dopp (113), Seth Mutter (215) and Logan Russell (285) all reaching the championship match.

The Panthers also had four finalists with Caleb Potts (120), Jaxon Whittemore (157), Joe Clark (165) and Byron Creech (175) all making the final.

Griffin Jeffrey (126) and Conner Deaton (132) represented the host Royals in the finals

Monroe Jefferson won at 255.5.

TECUMSEH — The hosts went .500 on the day as it went 2-2 with wins against Ida and Anchor Bay.

Tecumseh toppled the Bluestreaks, 65-12, and won a narrow 36-33 dual against Anchor Bay while falling to Carlson, 43-30, and Mason, 63-12.

Adrian at Grappler Gold Invite

DAVISON — The Maples sent a group to the Grappler Gold Invite hosted by Davison where Adrian finished 11th with 16 points.

The Maples placed four with Isaiah Ware-Marshall (157) and Jaden Jankowski (190) taking sixth while Cameron Trevino (120) took seventh and Diego Orozco (113) took eighth.

Sand Creek at Concord Grover Invite

CONCORD — The Aggies took ninth overall with a single placer at the Concord-Grover Invite.

Daniel Meckley took third in the 285 pound weight class as he went 3-1 on the day.
