PREP ROUNDUP: Winamac stifles Northfield in boys hoops

Jan. 10—The Winamac boys basketball team recorded a 45-33 win over visiting Northfield Tuesday.

The Warriors held the Norsemen to a 22% shooting night from the field and forced 16 turnovers.

John Malchow had 14 points and Brendan Hines scored 11 to lead the Warriors (5-7).

Winamac led 10-6 after one, 19-11 at halftime and 34-22 after three.

Carter Rodgers and Tyson Baer had 12 points apiece to lead the Norsemen (4-9).

Winamac hosts North Judson Friday.

GIRLS HOOPS

TRITON 35, WINAMAC 25

Winamac dropped its second league game in a row in Bourbon.

Marissa Iverson was the only Lady Warrior in double figures with 12 points.

Triton led 11-3 after one, 20-10 at halftime and 24-23 after three.

Addyson Viers had 12 points and Jocelynn Faulkner had 11 to lead the Trojans (7-11, 3-2 HNAC).

Winamac (11-7, 2-3) travels to John Glenn Saturday afternoon.

MAC 58, PIONEER 36

Pioneer (5-12) dropped a home game against Maconaquah (9-8).

The Panthers trailed just 12-10 after one and 24-19 at halftime. The Braves outscored them 18-6 in the third to take a 42-25 lead after three.

Miranda Stoll led three Braves in double figures with 15 points. Bailey Carson had 13 and Sydney Barnes added 11.

Makenna Strycker had 14 points and Mia McKaig scored 10 to lead the Panthers. Hannah Zeigler added six.

Pioneer travels to Argos Saturday night.

BOYS SWIMMING

CASS 95, KOKOMO 83

Quadruple winners Jayden Ramer, Jackson Hedrick and Carter Armstrong led Cass against visiting Kokomo.

Individually, Ramer won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Hedrick won the 200 individual medley and 500 free and Armstrong was tops in the 50 free and 100 free. Also for Cass, Matthew Wallace won the diving program.

Ramer, Armstrong, Jamison Douglas and Hedrick teamed to win the 200 medley relay and Armstrong, Ramer, Kayden Scott and Hedrick teamed to win the 200 free relay.

GIRLS SWIMMING

CASS 93, KOKOMO 87

Tied 83-all going into the 400 free relay to close the meet, the Kings' team of Mayce Armstrong, Kennedy McLaughlin, Rielle Musgrave and Trinity Hagen out-touched Kokomo's team for the win in the race (4:35.97 to 4:36.22), lifting Cass to the meet win.

Cass had individual wins from Maryn Zeck (200 IM), Maci Garland (100 butterfly) and Hannah Penn (diving).

Cass travels to Northwestern next Tuesday.
