PREP ROUNDUP: West Point finishes runner-up at Lake City Cup

Mar. 3—West Point's varsity boys soccer team put together a solid performance over the weekend.

The Warriors knocked off Cleburne County (7-0) and Arab (2-0) at the Lake City Cup in Albertville before falling to Douglas (3-0) in the championship match to finish runner-up.

Chance Aldridge scored a school-record five goals in the win over Cleburne County. Omar Segundo collected two goals and an assist. Josh Shannon (two), Julio Fuentes (one) and Nathan Marta (one) each assisted on goals.

Segundo and Hayden Hogan tallied one goal apiece against Arab. Segundo added an assist.

West Point is now 8-4-2 on the season.

"Really proud of the boys," Warriors coach Jacob Brown said. "If there's one thing this team will do, it's leave it all out on the field — and they definitely did that. No one will ever outwork us."
