Div. II Twinsburg District

No. 4 Norwayne 7, No. 17 Norton 6

Norton stunned Norwayne with five first-inning runs, putting the Bobcats on the brink of a second straight early playoff exit.

But Norwayne stunned Norton back.

The Bobcats scored seven runs over the final two innings, including the Mike Steingass' game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the seventh to complete the improbable comeback.

Norwayne got on the board with four runs in the sixth inning after trailing 5-0 for almost the entirety of the first five innings. And after surrendering a run in the top of the seventh, Norwayne went to work in the final half of the inning, including two hit-by-pitches and a Jake Gill RBI-single before Steingass reached the plate.

Ashton Snyder proved to be one of the heroes for the Bobcats, pitching 4⅔ in relief after the Panthers scored five runs before Norwayne recorded the second out, including a grand slam from George Antal.

Kade Whitman's big day at the plate led the way as Triway easily advanced on to next week's district stage.

Whitman homered and drove in five runs, which as more than enough with Simon Kitchen on the mound. Kitchen only allowed two hits during five innings of work.

Twelve different player had hits, including Jack Steiner, who homered and drove in four runs, as Dalton rolled to a sectional final win over Cornerstone Christian.

Seth Wyckoff also completely shut down Cornerstone on the mound, throwing an abbreviated no-hitter.
