CARROLL 59, PIONEER 44

Chris Huerta scored 30 points as Carroll (8-4) recorded a win at Pioneer (3-9) on Saturday night.

The Cougars bounced back from a 68-35 loss to Clinton Prairie on Friday, when the Gophers avenged a 10-point loss to Carroll from the Clinton Central Holiday Tournament.

Lucas Perry had 13 points and Drew McKaig scored 12 to lead the Panthers.

"Lucas Perry had a nice game and hit some shots for us in the second half," Pioneer coach Darren McKaig said. "We just couldn't find any rhythm in the first half against their halfcourt trap. We missed several shots in the paint and had 12 first-half turnovers. We played better in the second half, but we just traded baskets with them and couldn't make a run."

Pioneer hosts West Central for a non-conference game Friday. Carroll travels to Tri-Central for an HHC game Friday.
