PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Danville snaps losing streak

Dec. 21—DANVILLE — Four straight losses, including a pair last week at home had the Danville Vikings desperately seeking a positive outcome against the Galesburg Silver Streaks on Wednesday.

Senior Devon Larkin ignited a quick start for the Vikings with 16 first-quarter points as Danville snapped their losing skid with a 73-66 triumph over Galesburg.

Larkin finished with a game-high 19 points, while junior Ja'Vaughn Robinson had 18, junior C.L. Dye chipped in with 15 and junior Jerry Reed III finished with 12.

With the victory, the Vikings improve to 4-7 heading into the Pontiac Holiday Tournament where Danville opens against Chicago Heights Bloom in the first round.

Galesburg, which falls to 4-8 overall, trailed the entire game, getting as close at 4 points (54-50) early in the fourth quarter.

The Silver Streaks was led by Eugene Williams and Jace Keith with 14 points each, while Jackson Crock Sibbing had 13 and Tyree Taylor finished with 12.
