Predicting where every Montgomery high school football team will finish in 2023 standings

The first Friday night of the 2023 Alabama high school football season is days away with kickoff starting Aug. 24, with the AHSAA Kickoff Classic at the Cramton Bowl.

The road to the December Super 7 state championship begins this week. And for teams playing in region openers, week zero can have some early playoff implications. The top four finishers in each region qualify for the playoffs, regardless of region size.

Here's the Montgomery Advertisers' prediction on how the end of year region standings will look for Montgomery-area teams.

Class 7A

Region 3: Auburn, Central Phenix City, Dothan High, Prattville, Enterprise, Opelika, Jeff Davis, Smiths Station, Lee Montgomery.

Class 6A

Region 2: Pike Road, Carver Montgomery, Wetumpka, Stanhope Elmore, Sidney Lanier, Russell County, Park Crossing.

Class 5A

Region 3: Demopolis, Selma, Holtville, Marbury, Shelby County, Jemison.

Region 4: Beauregard, Central Clay County, Elmore County, Tallassee, Valley, Sylacauga.

Class 4A

Region 2: Montgomery Catholic, Andalusia, Montgomery Academy, B.T. Washington, Slocomb, Geneva, Dale County, Bullock County.

Class 3A

Class 1A

Region 2: Brantley, Elba, Florala, Georgiana, Kinston, Red Level, Houston County, McKenzie, Pleasant Home, McKenzie.
