Portage HS scores | Jan. 10: Curall, Lough lift Rootstown girls basketball to key PTC win
Rootstown ran away from host Warren JFK with an 18-11 fourth quarter Wednesday to remain undefeated in Portage Trail Conference girls basketball.
Colbie Curall led the Rovers (12-1, 4-0) with 14 points, and Nadia Lough tacked on a double-double (10 points, 14 rebounds).
Abby White drained two 3-pointers and added eight points for Rootstown, which also got six points apiece from Kelsey Bittecuffer and Brooklynn McIntyre.
Roosevelt 56, Barberton 37
The Rough Riders surged in front with a 16-3 first quarter en route to a Suburban American victory.
Claire VanDamme had 16 points and 11 rebounds (seven offensive), and Zariyah Taylor (eight points, 10 rebounds, four offensive) came a basket shy of another double-double to pace Roosevelt.
Julia Nash added 11 points and eight assists for the Rough Riders (6-7, 2-7).
Copley 65, Aurora 30
The Greenmen (9-4, 5-4 Suburban American) fell to league-leading Copley despite 10 points and two 3-pointers by Addison Witting. Copley's Izzy Callaway led all scorers with 25.
Boys Basketball
Streetsboro 52, Field 42
Jack Batten made seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with 22 points to lift the Rockets to a road Metro Athletic Conference victory. Jackson Gula (11 points, nine rebounds) also scored in double digits for Streetsboro. Up a point at the end of a quarter, the Rockets (6-5, 4-2) took control with an 18-7 second.
Nick Papiska led the host Falcons (2-9, 1-5) with 14 points, including two 3-pointers.
