POLL: If he becomes available, should the Broncos sign Michael Thomas?

Michael Thomas’ time with the New Orleans Saints might soon be coming to an end.

Thomas recently restructured his contract with New Orleans to give the team some short-term salary cap relief, but that deal could ultimately prove to be a long-term headache for the Saints.

With a $31 million roster bonus and a $30 million bonus for appearing in four games, Thomas has an outrageous contract that would cost New Orleans more than $60 million in 2024 if he remains on the roster.

The most likely scenario seems to be a split for Thomas and the Saints, with the team releasing him to recoup some of the cap space they have set aside for the soon-to-be-30-year-old receiver. New Orleans might try to restructure his contract again, but Thomas is probably unlikely to take a massive pay cut.

If Thomas is released by the Saints, the receiver will likely be connected to the Denver Broncos. Thomas played under coach Sean Payton from 2016-2021, and a one-year deal might make sense for both parties. Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler are both coming off lengthy injuries, and Denver could use some depth at the position in 2023.
