Police report: Georgia football WR De'Nylon Morrissette in crash before DUI arrest

Georgia wide receiver De’Nylon Morrissette crashed into the rear of another vehicle early Monday morning on eastbound Highway 316 in Watkinsville before he was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and other charges, according to a police incident report.

Morrissette was driving a 2019 Dodge Charger at about 3:30 a.m. that police say hit the right rear of a 2022 Subaru Outback in the highway’s left lane. The 50-year old female driver was treated for unspecified injuries for the crash that occurred on East University Parkway and Julian Drive, according to the report from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office obtained Wednesday by the Athens Banner-Herald.

Police responded to the accident and smelled the “strong odor,” of green marijuana after walking up to the Charger. Morrissette had red bloodshot eyes and had “a greenish film on his tongue.” Police said when he got out of his vehicle, he had a black digital scale.

Morissette, a sophomore whose address was listed in Kennesaw and who had four catches last season, agreed to give a blood sample and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI—a misdemeanor--and transported to St. Mary’s Hospital to give the sample.

Witnesses of the crash said they were driving in the right-hand lane when the Charger drove by at a high rate of speed and struck the Subaru in the back.
