Pocono Raceway to host NASCAR races a weekend earlier

If you're a NASCAR fan in the Poconos, you'll have to get to Pocono Raceway a weekend earlier.

The raceway announced that the Tricky Triangle will host all three NASCAR National Series races - the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and CRAFTSMAN Truck series - in July 2024. This coming year, however, the dates are July 12-14, one weekend earlier than it was in 2023.

Another change to the schedule pertains to the truck series race; instead of being a part of a Saturday doubleheader with the Xfinity Series, it will take place on Friday night at 6 p.m. ET. The Xfinity Series will run on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET while the Cup Series will serve as the finale on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Pocono Raceway experienced its largest crowd since 2010 last season, selling its main frontstretch grandstand as well as all premium seating and suites at the Cup race, along with selling out its infield camping inventory for the entire weekend.

“Our fans made a statement in 2023 by selling out the HighPoint.com 400,” Pocono Raceway President Ben May said in a press release. “Based on the early performance of our renewal campaign and initial 2024 pre-sale, the enthusiasm is already building for July 12-14, 2024, to be another high-energy weekend of NASCAR racing at Pocono Raceway. Start planning now. It’s going to be another hot ticket. Everybody I’ve talked to can’t wait to come back and do it again.”

Denny Hamlin won the last Cup Series race at Pocono, while Austin Hill and Kyle Busch won the Xfinity Series and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races, respectively.
