Here is a look at the latest individuals in the running to be voted the Lansing State Journal high school athlete of the week.

Voting is open until noon Wednesday to determine a winner, who will be featured in the LSJ.

Tomia Geter, Grand Ledge softball

Geter helped the Comets claim the CAAC Blue title last week with wins over Grand Ledge on Monday and also shined in the circle in a sweep of Brighton on Friday. The sophomore hurled seven scoreless in the sweep of DeWitt and struck out 15 and didn’t allow a hit or run. She allowed just one run in a combined six scoreless innings against Brighton. Geter also contributed at the plate, going 4-for-7 with a double, grand slam, walk and five RBI in the four games.

Jaiden Griffith, Williamston softball

The junior University of Virginia commit contributed to the Hornets claiming at least a share of the CAAC Red title with their sweep of St. Johns on Wednesday. She had eight strikeouts in the circle while earning the win in the opener and also went 4-for-4 with a double, home run, four runs, three RBI and a walk. She went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and three runs scored in the second game of the doubleheader.

Justin Steinman, DeWitt golf

The sophomore was the medalist during the opening day of the Oiler 36 at the Pohlcat Golf Club. He shot a 75 on Friday while finishing atop a field of 120 and helping DeWitt finish as the team runner-up. He also tied for seventh at the Holt Invite on Monday and fifth at the CAAC Blue jamboree hosted by Grand Ledge.

Sydney Sutton, Waverly softball

The freshman helped the Warriors to a sweep of East Lansing on Monday, going 6-for-9 with three home runs and 10 RBI. She followed by going 6-for-9 with three doubles, a home run and six RBI against Ionia.
