We pick IHSA quarterfinal playoff football games for Peoria-area schools

Here are the predictions for the quarterfinal round of the high school football playoffs around the Peoria area.

All games are scheduled for Saturday. Last week, the picks in this space went 4-4 (.500) and are 137-46 (.749) for the season.

Class 6A

(2) Washington (10-1) at (6) Chatham Glenwood (8-3), 2 p.m.: Washington is making its 13th appearance in the quarterfinals, 11 of those coming under retiring coach Darrell Crouch. The Panthers flexed their defensive muscles in the second round, allowing 57 total yards with seven sacks and forced two turnovers. Washington running back Kainon McQueary tallied 217 total yards with two touchdowns. This Glenwood's first quarterfinal appearance since making the 2019 4A semifinals. The Titans average 38.5 points a game including 63 and 52 points in the first two playoff games. Class 3A

(6) Lombard Montini (8-3) at (2) Princeton (10-1), 1 p.m.: Princeton is making its fourth consecutive quarterfinal appearance. The Tigers have seven shutouts this season, giving up 20-plus points just once. Montini, who is a six-time state champ, is making its first quarterfinal appearance since a 2018 Class 5A state runner-up finish. The Broncos average 29.5 points a game, 46.0 in the playoffs. (3) Roxana (11-0) at (7) Olympia (9-2), 2 p.m.: Olympia is in back-to-back quarterfinals for the first time in program history. The Spartans knocked off undefeated Greenville by 20 points in last week's second round. Roxana hasn't been to the quarterfinals since a 1987 Class 4A state runner-up finish. The Shells have put up 46.7 points a game, scoring 40-plus points nine times and over 50 points five times. Olympia 27, Roxana 21

(4) Annawan/Wethersfield (10-1) at (1) Lena-Winslow (11-0), 2 p.m.: A/W is in the quarterfinals for the fifth time since 2012. RB Zeb Rashid continues to be an offensive catalyst for the Titans, rushing for 143 yards and two TDs in the second round. L-W is the three-time reigning 1A state champ. The Panthers, who beat A/W in the 2019 Class 1A semis, average 47.6 points including four games with 50 points or more. L-W 35, A/W 28

(3) Chicago Hope Academy (10-1) at (10) ROWVA/Williamsfield (9-2), 1 p.m.: ROWVA/Williamsfield is making its third quarterfinal appearance in program history. The Cougars tied a 1A playoff record in a second-round win with five interceptions highlighted by pick-6s from Jack Godsil and Talan Hull. Hope is on an eight-game win streak with three shutouts.
