PIAA wrestling live coverage Friday: Title bouts are set

The PIAA wrestling championships continue Friday morning and will go all day at Hershey’s Giant Center.

The semifinal round has started for Class 3A, 2A and girls.

Consolation match winners

Boys Class 2A: Fourth-round consolation match winners were Gauge Botero, Faith Christian (121 pounds); Charlie Robson, Conwell-Egan (133); Chase Hontz, Faith Christian (145); Dante Burns, Conwell-Egan (215); Mark Effendian, Faith Christian (285).

Boys Class 3A: Fourth-round consolation match winners were Alexander Diaz, CR North (107); Connor Lenahan, CR South (114); Mason Ziegler, Quakertown (121); Cole Coffin, Pennridge (121); Quinn McBride, Pennridge (127); Chris Dennis, CB West (133); Gavin Carroll, Quakertown (145); Sam Kuhns, Pennridge (152).

Girls: Bryce Snyder, Palisades (190), was the only local girl to win her third-round consolation match.

North East, Grove City wrestlers advance

North East’s Cyrus Hurd advanced to the 133-pound consolation semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Grove City’s Hudson Hohman.

Hunter Hohman, meanwhile, beat Caden Finck of Montgomery in a 172-pound consolation bout to advance.

Hudson Hohman will wrestle for seventh place, as will Conneaut’s Hunter Gould (133 pounds), Saegertown’s Carter Beck (114) and Greenville’s Teague Calvin (215).

District 10 done for Friday

Three consolation quarterfinal matches concluded District 10's presence during Friday night's session.

Two were victorious.

Greenville's Kelly Enterline, whose older sister Madilyn will wrestle for the 106-pound championship, recorded an 8-5 decision over Laurel's Alexis Brua at 124. The freshman for the Trojans returns to action Saturday morning against Isabella DuVall of Philipsburg-Osceola.

DuVall is the same girls who beat Enterline during Thursday's championship first round.

Saegertown's Kacie Mook followed on the same Giant Center mat with her 1-minute, 21-second pin of Patron Plummer of Chestnut Ridge.

Like Enterline, Mook also gets a rematch with her championship first-round opponent in Saturday's consolation semifinals.

Shannon Govern of Hamburg pinned Mook 3:22 into their 130 opener.

Losing was Saegertown's Leah Sample at 118. Canon-McMillan's Yunuen Ayala won their match 5-2.That dropped Sample into the division's seventh-place match. She wrestle Pottstown's Savannah Richards for that particular medal.

Souderton's Atkinson in final

Souderton's Mackenna Atkinson is headed to the state final after a 6-2 win over Cumberland Valley's Aja Jumper in her semifinal bout at 235 pounds. The freshman nearly had Jumper pinned early on and was able to ride that momentum to the win.

Faith Christian's Waters looking to repeat

Faith Christian sophomore Adam Waters, a defending PIAA champion, is heading back to the finals after a 15-0 thumping of Carmine Lenzi of Berks Catholic in his semifinal bout at 172 pounds. Waters needed just over three minutes to record the technical fall.

Faith Christian's Singer falls

Faith Christian's Jason Singer fell by technical fall to defending PIAA champion Austin Johnson of Muncy 18-2 in his semifinal bout at 215 pounds. The loss dropped Singer into the consolation bracket.

Quakertown's Hattala falters

Quakertown's Caroline Hattala, who came into her semifinal match at 190 pounds undefeated at 27-0, was pinned in just 36 seconds by Bishop McCort's Alyssa Favara. The loss dropped Hattala into the consolation bracket.

Faith Christian's Weidemoyer reaches final

Faith Christian sophomore Cael Weidemoyer scored early and often en route to a dominating 9-2 win over Girard's Story Buchanan in his semifinal bout at 160 pounds. The win moves Weidemoyer into Saturday's title match.

District 10 winless in Class 2A semis

After losses by Cody Hamilton of Grove City at 152 pounds and Story Buchanan of Girard at 160, District 10 wrestlers finished 0-5 in the Class 2A semifinal round.

Hamilton dropped a 1-0 decision to Faith Christian’s Max Stein before Buchanan fell to Faith Christian’s Cael Weidemoyer, 9-2.

This will mark three consecutive years without a state champion from D-10.

North Allegheny senior vs. Hickory senior in 155 girls final

Leyna Rumpler and Avry Ryhal have wrestled three times this season. Rumpler, a North Allegheny senior, won two of them. Ryhal, a Hickory senior, can even their season series Saturday at Hershey's Giant Center.

In reality, though, it would be worth two wins.

That's because the duo will face off for the 155-pound championship in the inaugural PIAA girls wrestling tournament. Each advanced to that match in diverse ways Friday night.

Ryhal wore down Gettysburg's Kylie Monroe for a 4-minute, 39-second fall. The Lock Haven University recruit will take a 25-2 record into her final match in a Hornets singlet.

Rumpler, though, required an ultimate tiebreaker to set up her latest match with Ryhal. She went the distance for a dramatic 8:30 victory over Northern Bedford's Raegan Snider.

Rumpler, a Baldwin Wallce University recruit, improved to 35-1.

Ryhal joined Greenville's Madilyn Enterline as District 10 finalists for the first girls wrestling tournament sanctioned by the PIAA.

Quakertown's Gaj back in final

Quakertown junior Collin Gaj, a defending PIAA champion, is headed back to the finals at 152 pounds after his 11-1 major-decision win over Hempfield Area's Eli Carr. Gaj built an early lead and was never threatened.

Faith Christian's Stein headed to final

Faith Christian's Max Stein needed just one point to notch a victory over Grove City's Cody Hamilton in his semifinal match at 152 pounds. Stein scored the point at the start of the second period, and it held up to put him in Saturday's title match.

Bensalem's Krieger in girls final

Bensalem junior Maya Krieger upended Greater Nanticoke's Sierra Ripka 4-0 in her semifinal at 170 pounds to earn a spot in Saturday's final. Krieger was tough on top as she was in control of the match most of the way.

Central Bucks West's Kelly falls

Central Bucks West junior Patrick Kelly fell behind early against Thomas Jefferson's Maddox Shaw and was eventually pinned in his semifinal bout at 139 pounds. The loss dropped Kelly into the consolation bracket.

CR North's Sement falls in semifinals

Council Rock North junior Eren Sement lost his 127-pound semifinal to Daniel Boone's Dean Houser by a 6-3 score to fall into the consolation bracket. The match was tied at 3-3 entering the third period before Houser scored an escape and takedown to account for the final margin.

Reynolds duo drops semifinals

Two of Reynolds’ three Class 2A semifinalists saw their bid for gold end. Louie Gill dropped a 7-5 thriller at 121 pounds to Greyson Music of Bishop McDevitt when Music scored a pair of back points as time expired. Gill had logged two takedowns prior while Music’s offense came from a reversal and near-fall points.

Logan Stewart was pinned by Bentworth’s Chris Vargo 1:35 into their 127-pound semifinal when Vargo caught him on his back for a quick pin call.

Reynolds to have three in consolation semis

Reynolds 139-pounder Chase Bell joined teammates Louie Gill and Logan Stewart in Saturday’s consolation finals after a semifinal loss via technical fall to Bishop McCort’s Bo Bassett.

Madilyn Enterline enjoys District 10/PIAA history

Madilyn Enterline, a Jamestown student who wrestles for Greenville's co-op girls program, became the answer to a trivia question Friday night.

Enterline, senior for the Trojans, became District 10's first wrestler to advance to a PIAA championship match. A three-point near fall spurred her to an 8-2 victory vs. Hamburg's Isabelle Wilkes in their 106-pound semifinal before a mammoth crowd at Hershey's Giant Center.

Enterline wrestled with Greenville's boys program for the 2023-24 regular season. Thus, her 8-0 record going into Saturday's final.

It's there she'll face Julia Horger, a sophomore from Conwell-Egan. Horger also maintained a perfect record (21-0) with her 1-minute, 42-second fall of York Suburban's Alysiana Price-Ierley.

Enterline and Wilkes wrestled on an adjacent mat to the 112-championship semifinal between Conneaut's Daylee Watson and J.P. McCaskey's Journie Rodriguez.

Watson was denied a title berth via the 10-4 victory for Rodriguez, who formerly wrestled Northwestern star Sierra Chiesa in past non-PIAA girls tournaments.

Watson dropped into the 112-consolation bracket at 7-1.

Palisades' Witt keeps on rolling

Palisades' Savannah Witt continued her mastery at 118 pounds as she recorded her third first-period pin in as many matches by topping Northeast Bradford's Anaiah Kolesar in her semifinal bout. The victory moved her into Saturday's title match.

Conwell-Egan top seed Horger drops Suburban freshman in semis

York Suburban's Alyisana Price-Ierley will take home a medal her first season of high school, but it won't be gold or silver. She was pinned by top seed and unbeaten Julia Horger of Conwell-Egan in the girls' 106-pound semifinals Friday night. Price-Ierley is still guaranteed at least sixth place. With the win, Horger improved to 21-0.

Bensalem's Hinkle drops into consolations

Bensalem's Payton Hinkle was pinned by unbeaten Valarie Solocio of Canon-McMillan in her semifinal match at 100 pounds. The loss dropped Hinkle into the consolation bracket.

H-H's Morrison headed to Class 3A final

Hatboro-Horsham freshman Dom Morrison dominated from start to finish to post a 4-1 win over Emilio Albanese of Emmaus in his semifinal bout at 107 pounds. The victory moves the Hatter standout into Saturday championship match.

Faith Christian's Bachmann makes Class 2A final

Faith Christian freshman Joey Bachmann, the top-ranked wrestler at his weight in the state and the country, crunched Burrell's Cameron Baker 20-5 in his semifinal at 107 pounds to advance to Saturday's championship match at 4 p.m. Bachmann finished off the technical fall with just under 30 seconds remaining in the third period.

Neshaminy's Nesbitt in girls title match

Unbeaten Neshaminy freshman Grace Nesbitt used a reversal and three third-period back points to score an 8-3 win over Montour's Kristen Walzer in her semifinal bout at 100 pounds. The win moved the 22-0 Nesbitt into Saturday's championship match.

Conwell-Egan's Boyce upended

Conwell-Egan freshman Thomas Boyce battled all the way before falling to unbeaten Dominic Deputy of Chestnut Ridge 6-1 in a Class 2A semifinal bout at 107 pounds. The loss dropped Boyce into the consolation bracket while Deputy improved to 49-0 and will meet Faith Christian's Joey Bachmann in Saturday's title match.

La Salle's Brennan wins

La Salle High senior Andrew Brennan scored a takedown with 10 seconds left in the third period to edge North Allegheny's Bradyn McConneha 6-4 in a third-round consolation bout at 285 pounds. The win assured Brennan of a state medal.

Quakertown's Lachman edges CB East's Collins

In a battle of seniors and a rematch of the District One East final, Quakertown's Calvin Lachman edged Central Bucks East's Joe Collins 3-2 in their third-round consolation match at 285 pounds. The win assured Lachman of his first PIAA medal while the loss eliminated Collins from the tournament.

Pennridge's Hogan earns medal

Pennridge's Talan Hogan trailed in his third-round consolation bout at 172 pounds against Nazareth's Braden Zuercher before reversing Zuercher and pinning him to secure himself a state medal.

CR North's Sadriddinov earns 3-0 victory

Council Rock North senior Bek Sadriddinov notched a 3-0 win over West Scranton's Colby Celuck in his third-round consolation bout at 172 pounds. The win assured Sadriddinov of his second PIAA medal.

Neshaminy's Ernazar Baiyshbekov falters

Neshaminy senior Ernazar Baiyshbekov came up just short of earning a state medal as he dropped a 4-3 decision to Wallenpaupack's Gunnar Myers in his third-round consolation bout at 160 pounds.

CR South's Cole gets 100th win

Council Rock South junior Gavin Cole picked up his 100th win at a crucial time as his 3-0 decision over Hershey's Christian Burd in the third round of consolations at 160 pounds also assured Cole of a state medal.

Pennridge's Kuhns secures medal

Pennridge senior Sam Kuhns blanked Central York's Wyatt Dillon 7-0 in his third-round consolation match at 152 pounds to assure himself of a state medal.

Quakertown's Carroll advances

Quakertown junior Gavin Carroll assured himself of a state medal thanks to a 5-0 victory over Kennett's Kane Lengel in his third-round consolation match at 145 pounds.

CB West's Dennis picks up win

Central Bucks West sophomore Chris Dennis knocked off Connellsville's Kai Vielma 8-5 in his third-round consolation bout at 133 pounds and also assured himself of his second PIAA medal after placing sixth a year ago.

Pennridge's McBride notches fall

Pennridge's Quinn McBride pinned Easton's Chris Kelly in the second period to win his third-round consolation bout at 127 pounds and also assure himself of a state medal.

Pennridge's Coffin edges CR South's Reitter

In a matchup of seniors, it was Pennridge's Cole Coffin scoring a takedown in sudden victory to grab a 2-0 win over the Golden Hawks' Luke Reitter. The win assured Coffin of a state medal while the loss eliminated Reitter from the tournament.

Hickory’s Slicker to medal at 127

Brady Slicker of Hickory edged Waynesburg’s Ky Szewczyk 7-6 to advance in the 127-pound consolations and seal his spot on the podium.

Quakertown's Ziegler rebounds

Quakertown senior Mason Ziegler bounced back from his loss in the quarterfinals to post a pin of Shikellamy's Alex Reed in his third-round consolation match at 121 pounds. Ziegler, a PIAA runner-up last season, assured himself of another state medal with the win.

CR South's Lenahan earns medal

Council Rock South's Connor Lenahan scored a 2-0 win over Altoona's Braiden Weaver in their third-round consolation match at 114 pounds. The win assured Lenahan of a state medal.

Pennridge's Martinelli forfeits

Pennridge's Colby Martinelli had to forfeit his third-round consolation match to Greater Latrobe's Leo Joseph at 114 pounds. Martinelli was injured at the end of his second-round consolation loss and could not continue in the tournament.

Chambersburg senior reaches state semifinal

After winning a District 3 title two weeks ago, Chambersburg senior Aiden Hight said he wanted another shot at Owen J. Roberts' Dillon Bechtold. Well, he's getting his shot. Hight clinched a berth in the state semifinals with a 10-4 win over Central Mountain's Rocco Serafini in the 215-pound quarterfinals Friday. He'll face Bechtold in the semifinals Friday night. Bechtold took second in the state last season and has beaten Hight twice this year — first by pin and then by 16-2 major. Hight has still clinched his first state medal.

CR North's Diaz secures medal

Council Rock North's Alexander Diaz blanked Central Dauphin's Thunder Bear 11-0 in his third-round consolation match at 107 pounds and assured himself of a state medal with the win.

CB East's Collins advances

It took an overtime tiebreaker, but Central Bucks East's Joe Collins prevailed 4-1 over Northampton's Gavin Grell in his second-round consolation match at 285 pounds. The win kept Collins alive in the tournament.

Quakertown's Lachman upended

Quakertown senior Calvin Lachman ran into two-time PIAA champ Sean Kinney of Nazareth and was pinned in the second period in his quarterfinal bout. The loss dropped Lachman into the consolation bracket.

La Salle's Brennan falls in quarterfinals

La Salle High senior Andrew Brennan lost by technical fall to Southeast Regional champion Dean Bechtold of Owen J. Roberts in his quarterfinal bout at 285 pounds. The 15-0 loss dropped Brennan into the consolation bracket.

Meadville’s Tidball alive in consolations

Despite putting Felix Mason of Downington East on his back twice, Meadville 215-pounder Ty Tidball dropped a 7-3 consolation decision to conclude his tournament.

Souderton's Lester eliminated

Souderton's Kole Lester dropped a 4-1 decision to Bethlehem Catholic's James Deluise in his second-round consolation match at 189 pounds. The loss eliminated Lester from the tournament.

Pennridge's Hogan moves on

Pennridge's Talan Hogan kept going in the tournament thanks to an 11-1 major decision over Wilson West Lawn's Blaise Eidsel in his second-round consolation bout at 172 pounds. Up next for Hogan is the third round of consolations.

YAIAA friends reach state semifinals together

York Suburban's Tyler Adams and Central York's Eli Long just have a habit of accomplishing things at the same time. They won District 3 titles together. They won another District 3 title together. They earned their 100th win the same weekend this season. And now the seniors have reached the state semifinals together. Adams pinned Connellsville's Kai Vielma in the final seconds of the third period. He trailed 2-0 after the first but rode Vielma the entire second period. He earned an escape to start the third and then finally took the lead with a takedown with 40 seconds left. He continued to control his opponent and then locked him up in a cradle with two seconds remaining. Long also won by pin -- another similarity with his friend -- but made things much less stressful. He picked up an early takedown on Penn Trafford's Hayden Coy, and then pinned him midway through the second period. Long is guaranteed a second career state medal after taking eighth last season. He will face State College former state champ Pierson Manville in the semifinals. Adams has locked up his first state medal and will face Baldwin's Ramil Islamov in the semifinals.

Council Rock North senior Bek Sadriddinov ran into impressive freshman Hunter Snyder from Greater Latrobe and dropped a 5-0 decision in his quarterfinal match at 172 pounds. The loss dropped Sadriddinov into the consolation bracket.

Pennridge's Gallagher eliminated

Pennridge's Ryan Gallagher dropped a 5-1 decision to Hershey's Christian Burd in his second-round consolation bout at 160 pounds. The loss eliminated Gallagher from the tournament.

CR South's Cole falls into consolations

Council Rock South junior Gavin Cole dropped a 5-0 decision to Pottsville's Nick Kunstek in his quarterfinal match at 160 pounds. The loss dropped Cole into the consolation bracket.

Neshaminy's Ernazar Baiyshbekov advances

Neshaminy senior Ernazar Baiyshbekov kept his medal hopes alive with a 5-2 win over Bethel Park's Cordan McDonnell in his second-round consolation bout at 160 pounds.

Quakertown's Gaj cruises into semifinals

Quakertown junior Collin Gaj, a returning PIAA champion, dispatched Central Mountain's Griffin Walizer 13-4 in his quarterfinal match at 152 pounds. The win moved Gaj into tonight's semifinals while Walizer, a two-time PIAA medalist, dropped into the consolation bracket.

Quakertown's Carroll falters

Quakertown junior Gavin Carroll ran into tough Pierson Manville of State College and was pinned midway through the first period in his quarterfinal bout at 145 pounds. Manville has a PIAA title and a PIAA runner-up showing on his resume. The loss dropped Carroll into the consolation bracket.

Pennridge's Kuhns upended

Pennridge senior Sam Kuhns fell by pin to defending PIAA champion Kollin Rath of Bethlehem Catholic in his quarterfinal bout at 152 pounds. Rath built a big lead before getting the fall late in the second period. The loss dropped Kuhns into the consolation bracket.

Hatboro-Horsham's Staub eliminated

Hatboro-Horsham senior Chris Staub lost a tight 5-3 decision to Kennett's Kane Lengel in his second-round consolation bout at 145 pounds. The loss eliminated Staub from the tournament.

Central Bucks West's Kelly wins a wild one

Trailing by seven points late in the second period, Central Bucks West's Patrick Kelly caught unbeaten Jersey Shore's Brock Weiss in a defensive pin to claim a quarterfinal victory at 139 pounds. Kelly was down 11-4 with Weiss, who entered the match 31-0, on top before Kelly was able to lean back into Weiss and get the fall. The victory moved Kelly into tonight's semifinals.

CB West's Dennis dominates

Central Bucks West's Chris Dennis built a big lead and then pinned Red Lion's Mason Harvey late in the second period in his second-round consolation bout at 133 pounds. The win kept Dennis alive in the tournament.

Pennridge's McBride pins Quakertown's Williams

In a matchup of wrestlers from neighboring schools, Pennridge's Quinn McBride took Quakertown's Isaac Williams down to his back for a pin in their second-round consolation bout at 127 pounds. The win moved McBride into the third round of the consolations while Williams was eliminated from the tournament.

Cathedral Prep’s Oler bounced at 127

Cathedral Prep’s Keagan Oler dropped his 127-pound consolation to Ky Szewczyk via 4-1 decision. Two District 10 wrestlers remain in Class 3A action: Elijah Scriven of Hickory (127) and Ty Tidball of Meadville (215).

Hickory’s Bishop eliminated

Brody Bishop of Hickory saw his season end in the 121-pound consolations after dropping a 6-1 decision to Connor Smith of Seneca Valley.

CR North's Sement through to semifinals

Council Rock North's Eren Sement, a two-time PIAA third-place finisher, is headed to the semifinals at 127 pounds after blanking Easton's Chris Kelly 11-0 in his quarterfinal bout.

Pennridge's Coffin keeps going

Pennridge's Cole Coffin kept his medal hopes alive with a dominating 10-3 win over Central Dauphin's Luke Hitchcock in his second-round consolation bout.

CR North's Kane eliminated

Council Rock North's Pierce Kane dropped a 5-1 decision to Shikellamy's Alex Reed in his second-round consolation match at 121 pounds and was eliminated from the tournament.

CR South's Lenahan advances

Council Rock South's Connor Lenahan advanced in the tournament after a 5-2 win over Hickory's Elijah Scriven in his second-round consolation bout at 114 pounds.

District 10 duo bounced at 114

Meadville’s Ben Fuller was eliminated at 127 pounds following his 4-2 loss to Leo Joseph of Greater Latrobe.

Elijah Scriven of Hickory was eliminated moments later, dropping a 5-2 consolation loss to Connor Lanahan of Council Rock South.

Hickory’s Slicker drops quarterfinal at 127

Hickory’s Brady Slicker dropped to the 127-pound consolations after his quarterfinal loss by fall to Dean Houser of Daniel Boone.

District 1 trio fall into consolation bracket

Pennridge's Colby Martinelli, a third-place finisher in Hershey a year ago, was pinned late in the third period by Norwin freshman Landon Sidon in his quarterfinal bout at 114 pounds.

Quakertown's Mason Ziegler, a PIAA runner-up a year ago was edged 3-2 by Franklin Regional's Tyler Kapusta in his quarterfinal bout at 121 pounds. Council Rock South's Luke Reitter lost a 12-2 major decision to two-time PIAA medalist Luke Willochell of Greater Latrobe in his quarterfinal match at 121 pounds.

The loss drops them into the consolation bracket.

CR North's Diaz advances

Council Rock North's Alexander Diaz cruised to a 10-0 major-decision win over Mifflin County's Andrew Alexander in his second-round consolation bout at 107 pounds. The win kept Diaz alive in the tournament.

Hatboro-Horsham's Morrison advances to semifinals

Hatboro-Horsham freshman Dom Morrison continued his impressive run at his first state tournament by blanking Whitehall's Wilmont Kai 2-0 in his quarterfinal match at 107 pounds. Morrison used a first-period takedown to get his points and two were scoreless after that. Morrison advances to tonight's semifinals (7 p.m.) with the win.

Schedule update

Friday's 2:15 p.m. session for the PIAA Class 3A boys' tournament won't start until roughly 2:45 p.m. because the afternoon girls wrestling session ran long.

Palisades' Snyder advances

Palisades' Bryce Snyder notched a fall in the closing seconds to upend Liliana Giulianelli of Peters Township in their second-round consolation match at 190 pounds. The win kept Snyder's medal chances alive in the tournament.

Quakertown's Fries wins by pin

Quakertown's Peyton Fries pinned Southmoreland's Zoey Murphy in the closing seconds of the second period in their second-round consolation bout at 235 pounds. The fall advanced Fries into the third round of consolations.

South Western senior reaches semifinals

South Western's Kayla Henderson came one win short of a state title last year. Her goal is still alive after a 3-2 win over Bedford's Mylah Steinbuch in the 235-pound quarterfinals Friday. Henderson earned a second-period escape and takedown before holding off Steinbuch in the third. She entered the weekend with a heavily bandaged shoulder and appeared to be in pain following the win. She'll face Panther Valley's Brenda Banks in the semifinals tonight. Henderson's South Western teammates Natalie Handy (106) and Tatum Duckworth guaranteed themselves medals with consolation wins Friday.

Souderton's Husti-Luca advances

Souderton's Kayla Husti-Luca picked up two back points at the buzzer to edge Avon Grove's Emma Arnold in their second-round consolation bout at 130 pounds. The win kept Husti-Luca alive in the tournament.

Hickory’s Johnston falls in consolations

Hickory’s Emma Johnston saw her tournament end when Parkland’s Sylvyn Parham secured a takedown with 15 seconds left in their 112-pound consolation. The match was tied 1-1 prior and Parham’s takedown gave her a 3-1 victory.

Enterline advances for Greenville at 124

Palisades' Bryce Snyder dropped a 2-1 decision in an overtime tiebreaker to Reading's Esmerelda Tellez in a quarterfinal match at 190 pounds. The loss dropped Snyder into the consolation round.

North Penn's Daniella Maxwell was eliminated from the tournament when she was pinned by J.P. McCaskey's Jurelys Peguero in their first-round consolation match at 190 pounds.

Warren’s Katrina Seamens was bounced from the 148-pound bracket after her consolation loss Friday to Pine Grove’s Eve Kurtz. Kurtz secured a second-period fall.

Ryhall reaches semifinals for Hickory

Avry Ryhall’s speedy fall in the 155-pound quarterfinals kept the Hickory wrestler undefeated. She pinned Parkland’s Kelsey Gelb in 1:48 and set up a semifinal date with Kylie Monroe of Gettysburg.

ELCO dynamic freshman falls in quarterfinals

Kylee Trostle has been outstanding her freshman season. But she came up short against Bishop McCort's Lane Fordyce in the 112-pound quarterfinals Friday. Trostle led 2-0 early but Fordyce turned her and put her on her back at the very end of the first period. Trostle can still earn a medal through the consolation bracket.

Warren’s Kophazy eliminated

Kasey Kophazy of Warren was eliminated from the 136-pound bracket after her consolation loss to Hughesville’s Alexis Kurzawa.

York Suburban freshman reaches semifinals

Alyisana Price-Ierley comes from a wrestling family. She's had brothers and sister go through the York Suburban wrestling program. But she's now gone further than any of them with a trip to the state semifinals booked for Friday night. Price-Ierley beat Northern Bedford's Kaylee Ebersole, 9-3, in the 106-pound quarterfinals Friday. She gave up an early takedown, but scored a reversal and nearfall points in the second period. She'll face top seed Julia Horger of Conwell-Egan in the semifinals Friday night. Horger pinned South Western's Natalie Handy in the quarterfinals.

Greenville’s Enterline advances in 124-pound consolations

Greenville’s Kelly Enterline bounced back from Thursday’s loss with a second-period pin of Carlisle’s Sophia Adams in a 124-pound consolation. Enterline will next wrestle Sayre’s Layla Bennett.

Kacie Mook of Saegertown pinned Wallenpaupack’s Ariel Manning 1:37 into their 130-pound consolation bout. That moves Mook to 1-1 on the week and schedules her another consolation bout this afternoon.

Abington's Gracie Clift was pinned late in the second period in her first-round consolation bout against Laurel's Alexis Brua at 124 pounds and was eliminated from the tournament.

Souderton's Husti-Luca falls

Souderton's Kayla Husti-Luca had an early lead before Hamburg's Shannon Govern fought back to post a 14-7 win in their quarterfinal bout at 130 pounds. The loss dropped Husti-Luca into the consolation bracket.

Conneaut’s Watson surges into 112-pound semifinals

Conneaut’s Daylee Watson beat Isabella Bacchio of Manheim Township, 13-6, in a 112-pound quarterfinal. Watson trailed 4-0 before scoring eight consecutive points. She’ll meet Journie Rodriguez in the 112-pound semifinals.

Hickory’s Emma Johnston surrendered a late reversal to Andi Bibeau of ES North, sinking her in a 2-0 quarterfinal decision at 112.

Saegertown’s Sample drops to 118-pound consolations

Leah Sample of Saegertown dropped to the 118-pound consolation bracket after her quarterfinal loss to Savannah Witt of Palisades. She’ll meet Addison Beck of Schuylkill Valley in the consolation bracket.

Neshaminy's Nesbitt stays undefeated; Hinkle, Horger, Witt into semifinals

Neshaminy freshman Grace Nesbitt improved to 21-0 with a 9-2 win over Knoch's Miranda LaJevic in her quarterfinal bout at 100 pounds. Bensalem's Payton Hinkle was trailing in her 100-pound quarterfinal match before pinning Juliette Cuevas of Bellwood Antis late in the second period.

Conwell-Egan's Julia Horger improved to 20-0 with a first-period pin of South Western's Natalie Handy in the quarterfinals at 106 pounds.

Savannah Witt of Palisades needed just 35 seconds to pin Saegerstown's Leah Sample in her quarterfinal match at 118 pounds. Witt, who improved to 29-0, advanced to tonight's semifinals, which start at 7.

D-10 girls’ duo wins at 106 pounds

Greenville’s Madilyn Enterline advanced to the 106-pound semifinals with a first-period pin of Garnet Valley’s Reese Dewar. Enterline slipped in and arm bar and finished the match at 1:13. She’ll meet Hamburg’s Isabelle Weeks in this evening’s semifinals.

General McLane’s Ashley Campbell, meanwhile, won her 106-pound consolation opener against Hughesville’s Julia Ritter via 3-0 decision.  She’ll now meet Emily Sarr of Souderton for another consolation bout.

Two more District 10 wrestlers are out

An all-District 10 consolation quarterfinal won't happen with losses by each potential participant.

Fort LeBoeuf's John Duran and Greenville's Joey Peterson were each eliminated in the heavyweight division's "blood round." Towanda's Sawyer Robinson beat Duran 4-1 and Mark Effendian of Faith Christian Academy pinned Peterson in 2 minutes, 3 seconds.

Duran went 39-12 as a junior for the Bison. Peterson, a senior, was 28-11 for the Trojans.

Faith Christian's Effendian pins in win

Faith Christian sophomore Mark Effendian pinned Greenville's Joey Peterson midway through the second period in his third round consolation bout at 285 pounds. The victory assured Effendian of his first PIAA medal.

Calvin to claim 215 medal

Greenville upperweight Teague Calvin will stand on the tournament's top-eight podium when the Class 2A boys' medals are presented.

The junior assured himself such an appearance when he decisioned Mount Union's Josh Ryan 6-2 in their consolation third-rounder.

Calvin is now 38-11 as a junior for the Trojans.

Conwell-Egan's Burns grabs another medal

Conwell-Egan senior Dante Burns, who missed a chunk of the season due to injury, assured himself of a second PIAA medal with an 11-4 win over Montoursville's Cole Yonkin in the third round of consolations at 215 pounds. Burns, who placed eighth a year ago, built an early lead on the way to his 99th career win.

Lancers' Lloyd loses last varsity match

General McLane's Magnus Lloyd, a former state junior gold medalist, concluded his high school career without a similar award.

That was assured when Lucas Lawler of District 3 Bishop McDevitt defeated the Lancers' 189-pounder 3-2 in their elimination match. Lloyd was elimianted despite a season record of 42-7.

District 10 split at 172

One season resumed and one ended for District 10 entrants after the 172 consolation third round.Assured of a medal is Hunter Hohman. The Grove City senior pinned Belle Vernon's Elijah Brown 2 minutes, 32 seconds into their elimination meeting.

Done is Mason Savitz, the lone Corry wrestler in the Class 2A boys competition. His junior season concluded when Fort Cherry's Braedon Welsh blanked him 7-0.

Savitz went 38-9 for the 2023-24 Beavers.

Faith Christian's Cody Wagner earns medal

Faith Christian's Cody Wagner recorded a 5-2 win over Schuylkill Haven's Augustus Warke in his third-round consolation bout at 189 pounds. The victory assured Wagner of at least a top eight finish.

Summers' season over

Caullin Summers has wrestled his last match for the Sharpsville Blue Devils.

Summers was eliminated in the consolation third round at 152 pounds. Penns Valley's Ty Watson came on late for a 7-3 decision in their elimination match.

Summers went 1-2 for the tournament. He was 40-7 overall for the 2023-24 Blue Devils.

District 10 duo out at 145

There will be no district medalists at 145. That was guaranteed when Commodore Perry's Wyatt Lazzar and Cambridge Springs' Brody Beck lost their consolation third-rounders.

Chase Hontz of Faith Christian Academy edged Lazzar 4-3 at the same time Saucon Valley's Jackson Albert beat Beck 8-2.

Lazzar went 29-5 in his final season for the Panthers. Beck, also a senior for the Blue Devils, went 37-8.

Faith Christian's Hontz moves on

Faith Christian's Chase Hontz assured himself of a top eight finish after a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Commodore Perry's Wyatt Lazzar in his third-round consolation bout at 145 pounds.

Sharpsville's Rueberger eliminated

The varsity wrestling career for 139-pounder Alex Rueberger concluded in the consolation third round.Camp Hill's Noah Doi blanked the Sharpsville senior 5-0 in their elimination match.Rueberger went 40-11 in his final season for the Blue Devils.

Faith Christian's Mason Wagner eliminated

Faith Christian's Mason Wagner saw his tournament come to an end after a 5-2 loss to Burgettstown's Gavin Suica in the third round of consolations at 139 pounds. Wagner trailed by just a point late in the match before scored a takedown to account for the final margin.

District 10 dominates latest 133 matches

District 10 wrestlers accounted for three of the four consolation third round winners at 133 pounds.

That means one of the consolation quarterfinals will be an all-district match. It will consist of Grove City's Hudson Hohman and North East's Cyrus Hurd.

Hohman moved on with an 11-4 victory vs. Hayden Yacoviello-Andrus of Bermudian Springs. Hurd assured himself a medal with his 16-1 technical fall of Penns Valley's Colten Shunk.

The junior for the Grapepickers posted his result in 3 minutes, 31 seconds.

The other consy quarterfinal will pit Conneaut's Hunter Gould against Charlie Robson of Conwell-Egan. Gould clinched a medal thanks to his 8-1 win over Blue Ridge's Jackson Maby.

Conwell-Egan's Robson locks up medal

Conwell-Egan senior Charlie Robson slipped past Warrior Run's Max Wirnsberger 1-0 in his third-round consolation bout at 133 pounds. The win assured Robson of at least a top eight finish.

Beck to make podium appearance for Panthers

Saegertown's Carter Beck assured himself a top-eight medal in the 114-pound weight class. The junior did so when he decisioned Hamburg's Chase Homan 5-3 in their consolation third-rounder.

Beck (36-5) will place regardless of how he fares against Chartiers-Houston's Jorden Williams, his consolation quarterfinal opponent, or any other after their match.

Faith Christian's Botero rebounds

Faith Christian junior Gauge Botero, a PIAA champ a year ago who lost today in the quarterfinals, bounced back with a 9-2 win over Antonio Boni of Central Valley in the third round of consolations at 121 pounds. The win assured Botero of a medal for the third-straight season.

History halted again for Chiesa

Sierra Chiesa arrived at Hershey determined to do the one thing she didn't during her historic appearance in last year's PIAA Class 2A boys tournament. That was to become its first female medalist.

That quest was delayed again, when the Northwestern junior lost her consolation third-rounder, the "blood round," to Jordan Manyette.

The Trinity freshman defeated Chiesa 12-4 in their 107-pound elimination match. The consolation third-round winners are assured of a top-eight medal regardless of how they fare the remainder of the tournament.

Chiesa, as she did last season, finished 2-2 for the tournament. The state's first female with more than 100 career victories saw her junior season conclude 37-13.

Also eliminated in that same round was Angelo Lomonte. Tussey Mountain's Dakota Santamaria beat the Reynolds junior 2-1 in a tiebreaker.

Lomonte, who lost to Manyette during Thursday's action, went 40-11 for the 2023-24 Raiders.

Conwell-Egan's Bagnell eliminated

Conwell-Egan's Kevin Bagnell was edged 6-4 by Bald Eagle Area's Caden Judice in his third-round consolation bout at 114 pounds. The loss eliminated Bagnell from the tournament.

Duran done for heavyweight title hopes

Fort LeBoeuf's John Duran was defeated in the championship quarterfinals of the 285 weight class.

Joey Baronick of Burgettstown, who started in the preliminary round, decisioned the Bison junior 4-1. Duran dropped into the consolation third round with a record of 39-11.

It's there he'll face Sawyer Robinson of Towanda or Daniel Williams of Glendale.

Greenville's Joey Peterson also will wrestle in that same round. He advanced in consolation action with a 3-2 decision over Tulpehocken's Jack Heckman.

Peterson is now 28-10.

The varsity wrestling career of General McLane's Ryan Dedrick concluded in Friday's consolation second round.Dante Burns of Conwell-Egan, with his 9-6 decision, eliminated the senior for the Lancers.

Dedrick went 38-9 in his final season for McLane coach Ryan Cook.

Still alive in that bracket is Teague Calvin. The Greenville junior, thanks to a late 5-0 run, defeated Northern Bedford's Rece Dibert.

Calvin, now 37-11, will wrestle an opponent to be determined in the tournament's "blood round" later this session.

Conwell-Egan's Burns keeps going

Faith Christian's Jason Singer was dominant on top as he blanked Mount Union's Josh Ryan 4-0 in his quarterfinal match at 215 pounds. The victory moved Singer into tonight's semifinals (7 p.m.).

General McLane's Lloyd loses at 189

Erie County is 1-2 in championship quarterfinals after the 189 action. The second of those losses was incurred by Magnus Lloyd. The General McLane senior, a former state junior champion, lost 11-0 to Southern Columbia star Garrett Garcia (32-0).

Lloyd dropped into a consolation third-rounder against Lucas Lawler of District 3 Bishop McDevitt later this session. The Lancer upperweight's record is currently 42-6.

Faith Christian's Cody Wagner wins

Faith Christian's Cody Wagner stayed alive for a medal by posting a 7-0 win over Carter Storm of Bermudian Springs in a second-round consolation match at 189 pounds. Up next for Wagner will be the third-round of consolations which begin at 10:30 a.m.

Littlestown's Mingee reaches semifinals

Cameron Mingee had never won a state medal before this season. He had never reached the state quarterfinals. Now he's a match away from the final. The Littlestown senior beat Cranberry's Dane Wenner, 4-0, in the Class 2A 139-pound quarterfinals Friday morning. Mingee earned a quick takedown in the first period and then reversed Wenner in the second period to build his lead. He's now guaranteed to win a state medal and will face Midd-West's Matthew Smith in the semifinals Friday evening. Mingee is now 34-2 on the season.

District duo out of 172 title contention

Corry's Mason Savitz and Grove City's Hunter Hohman each lost their respective 172 quarterfinal matches.Savitz, the lone Beaver at Hershey this weekend, lost 5-2 to Berks Catholic's Carmine Lenzi, who reached the championship semis out of the preliminary round.

Savitz (38-8) dropped into a consolation third-rounder against Fort Cherry's Braedon Welsh.

Northwestern Lehigh's Luke Fugazzotto beat Hohman in a rare match that saw reach wrestler record double digits. Hohman (42-5) dropped into his consy third-rounder against the winner between St. Marys' Andrew Wolfanger or Belle Vernon's Elijah Brown.

Faith Christian's Waters back in semifinals

Faith Christian sophomore Adam Waters, a returning PIAA champion, roared into the semifinals tonight (7 p.m.) with a 16-0 technical fall over Port Allegheny's Aiden Bliss at 172 pounds. Waters needed just two minutes and 20 seconds to record the win. He's now 41-4 on the season and is yet to lose to a wrestler from Pennsylvania.

Faith Christian's Weidemoyer into semifinals

Faith Christian sophomore Cael Weidemoyer soared into the semifinals at 160 pounds after a 10-0 major-decision win over Hopewell's Isiah Pisano. The semifinals begin at 7 p.m. tonight.

Palisades' Haubert falters

Palisades senior Daniel Haubert suffered a slim 5-4 loss in the second round of consolations at 160 pounds to Chase Frameli of Jefferson Morgan. The loss eliminated Haubert from the tournament.

District 10 split in 152 quarterfinals

Grove City's Cody Hamilton joined a Reynolds trio in gaining a berth in Friday night's championship semifinals.Hamilton's invite was based on his 4-3 decision over Penn Cambria's Trent Hoover in their 152 meeting. The junior for the Eagles won when he recorded an escape point with 10 seconds left in regulation.

Hoover, now 42-5, will face Max Stein of Faith Christian Academy for a trip to Saturday's 152 title match. Stein is 39-7 as a junior.

Not as fortunate in the top half of the bracket was Caullin Summers. Warrior Run's Cameron Milheim beat the senior for the Blue Devils 11-5.

Summers (40-6) will face Burgettstown's Rudy Brown or Penns Valley's Ty Watson in his consolation third-rounder later this session.

Stellar story resumes for Girard's Buchanan

Story Buchanan is halfway to accomplishing what no Girard wrestler has before him.

Buchanan, a 160-pound senior for the YellowJackets, pinned Canton, Pennsylvania's Hudson Ward with 24 seconds left in their championship quarterfinal. That left him 38-5 going into Friday night's semifinal round.

It's there Buchanan will meet Cael Weidemoyer of powerhouse Faith Christian Academy. Weidemoyer, a sophomore, improved to 22-2 with a 10-0 quarterfinal shutout of Hopewell's Isaiah Pisano.

Lazzar loses 145 quarterfinal

Wyatt Lazzar's medal hopes aren't over, but his title hopes are.

Ryan Lawler of District 3 Bishop McDevitt doubled up the Commodore Perry senior 4-2 in their 145 quarterfinal. That dropped the middleweight for the Panthers into a consolation third-rounder later this session.

Lazzar (29-4) will face Chase Hontz of Faith Christian Academy in that match.

Also competing in that round will be Brody Beck of Cambridge Springs. He survived with a 6-4 victory vs. Lancaster Catholic's Gavin Badger. Beck (37-7) will face Saucon Valley's Jackson Albert in his next match.

Faith Christian's Stein headed to semifinals

Faith Christian's Max Stein used a cradle for three back points midway through the third period to pick up a 4-2 win over Gage Wentzel of Montoursville in his quarterfinal bout at 152 pounds. Up next for Stein will be tonight's semifinals (7 p.m.).

Reynolds Raiders up to three semifinalists

The Reynolds Raiders are once again showing whey they're arguably District 10's best athletic program.

Chase Bell, a 139-pound senior, became the team's third championship semifinalist with a 5-1 decision over Mason Wagner of Faith Christian Academy. He'll take a 37-10 record into Friday's notable semifinal against Bishop McCort star Bo Bassett, a sophomore who's 54-0.

The possibility existed of an all-District 10 semi. However, Bassett ruined that with his 43-second fall of Sharpsville's Alex Rueberger.

The senior for the Blue Devils, now 40-10, dropped into a consolation third rounder against Camp Hill's Noah Doi.

Faith Christian's Hontz advances

Faith Christian's Chase Hontz won his 145-pound second-round consolation bout by forfeit to advance to the third round of consolations later this morning.

District 10 trio still alive ... sort of

Three District 10 entrants in the 133 field are still alive. The problem is each is now in the consolation bracket.

Faith Christian's Mason Wagner had a slim lead early in the third period before Chase Bell of Reynolds scored a reversal and three back points to hand the Lion a 5-1 loss in the quarterfinals at 139 pounds. The defeat dropped Wagner into the consolation bracket.

Two-time champion Seidel back in the semifinals

Northern Lebanon's Aaron Seidel has now made it to the semifinals all three years of his high school career. He made quick work of Hughesville's Chase Shaner in the Class 2A 121-pound quarterfinals with an early takedown and first period pin. He'll face Bishop McCort's Lincoln Sledzianowski in the semifinals Friday night. His teammate, Sam Wolford, nearly made the 107 semifinals could lost to Chestnut Ridge's Dom Deputy, 1-0, after giving up a late escape. He falls to the consolation bracket but can still earn a medal.

Conwell-Egan's Walther eliminated; Robson falls in quarterfinals

Conwell-Egan freshman Colin Walther dropped a 5-2 decision to McGuffey's Lucas Barr in his second-round consolation bout at 127 pounds. The loss eliminated Walther from the tournament. Conwell-Egan senior Charlie Robson was upended 10-3 in his quarterfinal match at 133 pounds by undefeated sophomore Brandt Harer of Montgomery. The loss dropped Robson into the consolation bracket while Harer, a PIAA runner-up last year, improved to 52-0.

North East's See eliminated; Stewart moves to semifinals at 127

North East saw its second lightweight elimination in a consolation second-rounder. The latest was Kyler See. Delone Catholic's Gavin Green recorded two-point moves in each period for a 6-1 decision over the sophomore for the Grapepickers. See bowed out with a season record of 33-17.

Opposite that match and outcome was Logan Stewart. The freshman joined senior teammate Louie Gill as a championship semifinalist via his 17-2 technical fall of Bloomsburg's Anthony Barra.

Stewart went 4 minutes, 12 seconds for his latest win. He's now 42-7 going into his challenging semi against Chris Vargo (40-2). The Bentworth senior, an Edinboro University recruit, is a three-time state medalist and 2023 finalist.

Reynolds' Gill upends Faith Christian's Botero in match of former PIAA gold medalists

Faith Christian's Gauge Botero, a returning PIAA champ, lost for the second time this season to Louie Gill of Reynolds, this time by a 6-5 score in the quarterfinals at 121 pounds. Botero briefly had a 4-1 lead before Gill (49-5), a senior, who won a PIAA title as a Hickory freshman, battled back. The loss dropped Botero (27-3), a University of Michigan commit, into the consolations. Gill, a North Carolina State recruit, recorded his decisive two-point move early in the third period.

Conwell-Egan's Bagnell wins

Conwell-Egan's Kevin Bagnell kept his tournament going with a solid 7-1 win over Canton's Lyle Vermilya in a second-round consolation match at 114 pounds. Bagnell advances to the third round of consolations later this morning.

Split results at 114

Derry Area's Anthony Mucci made an escape point hold up for the only offense in his 114 consolation second-rounder vs. Rocky Kowle. That 1-0 final marked the end of the season for the North East sophomore.

Kowle went 1-2 for the tournament. He finished 34-14 for the 2023-24 Grapepickers.

Moving on in that same bracket was Carter Beck. The Saegertown junior decisioned District 3 Bishop McDevitt's Zane Crouse 6-1.

Beck, now 35-5, will face Hamburg's Chase Homan later this session.

Sierra Chiesa closer to history

This is where the script needs to divert for Sierra Chiesa.

Last year, the Northwestern lightweight went 2-2 as the first female who ever qualified for the formerly all-boys tournament. However, she finished one match shy of claiming a top-eight medal.

Chiesa, thanks to her 7-0 victory vs. Montgomery's Manny Stoltzfus in the consolation second round, has a second chance to be that trailblazer. She would be guaranteed a podium berth if she wins her consolation third rounder, against an opponent to be determined, later this session.

Chiesa's shutout of Stoltzfus left her 37-12 as a junior.

Also advancing in the 107 consy bracket was Reynolds' Angelo Lomonte. He recorded a decisive takedown late in the third period for a 4-2 win over Sullivan County's Andrew Kapec.

Conwell-Egan's Boyce wins quarterfinal

Conwell-Egan freshman Thomas Boyce piled up the points early on the way to a solid 14-6 major-decision win over Trinity's Jordan Manyette in his quarterfinal match at 107 pounds. The win moved Boyce into tonight's semifinals at 7 p.m.

Faith Christian's Bachmann keeps going

Faith Christian freshman Joey Bachmann, the No. 1 ranked 107 pounder in Class 2A and the nation, moved on to tonight's semifinals (7 p.m.) with a 9-3 win over Bald Eagle Area's Tanner Guenot in the quarterfinals.
