Phoenix Suns' Miles Bridges trade rumor brings fan outrage: 'I'll stop supporting team'
Every now and then a rumor can really rile up a fan base.
One of those moments is currently happening for fans of the Phoenix Suns.
Multiple reports have linked the Suns to Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges as a potential candidate for Phoenix before the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline and a lot of people on social media are outraged by the idea.
On the court, Bridges is a dynamic player. He is averaging 20.9 points per game this season and seven rebounds per game, with 2.9 assists per contest.
Off the court, however, Bridges, 25, is currently serving three years of probation after he pleaded no contest from his role in an alleged felony domestic violence incident from June 2022 in which the mother of his two children accused Bridges of assaulting her in front of the children. In October, a criminal summons accused him of violating a protection order.
He has a court date set for Feb. 20, 2024, 12 days after the NBA trade deadline.
It's the off-the-court situation that has a lot of Suns fans upset about the idea of Phoenix being interested in the forward.
And they are definitely upset, judging from their reaction to the rumor on social media.

Social media reaction to Miles Bridges trade rumor with Phoenix Suns:
Miles Bridges is on probation and has a hearing set for February related to violating a protective order from his ex and his children
The NBA did not do its job punishing Bridges properly, that doesn't mean any team (Suns included) should go out of their way to acquire him.— Brendon Kleen (@BrendonKleen14) January 23, 2024
I've been a Suns fan for almost 20 years because I randomly turned on a game and decided that's my team. If they trade for Miles Bridges, my fandom ends. I'll watch and root for players I like (Book, KD) but I'll stop supporting the team or caring about winning their first title

The Miles Bridges to Phoenix rumor appears to be legitimate from multiple sources.
Also gotta factor in the Michigan State connection to Ishbia.

I don't know if it'll be the Suns, Mavs, Kings or someone else, but it's truly demoralizing that a team - and likely a good team - is probably going to trade for Miles Bridges within the next 16 days.

Nothing will kill my soul more than if Miles Bridges got traded to the Suns

There so many loyal Suns fans are who women, I just think you send an awful message to those ladies and the rest of the world that domestic abuse and attack women is okay as long as you’re good at basketball. https://t.co/gNcd3K7UCJ

If @Suns trade for Miles Bridges, I will no longer be a fan of the team. @NBA is no place for domestic abusers. I have been a fan since I moved to Phoenix in 1987. But that will end if Miles Bridge becomes a Sun. https://t.co/FfIvpuUOjO
