Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 1 game

The reigning NFC champions are looking to get back into the Super Bowl, and their first test comes against one of the best NFL coaches in recent decades, as the Philadelphia Eagles will head to Gillette Stadium to face the New England Patriots.

The Eagles fell short of winning Super Bowl 57, but return with another loaded roster that makes them a favorite to return to the title game. Jalen Hurts was also solidified as the franchise quarterback with a massive extension that makes him one of the highest-paid signal callers in the league.

New England struggled offensively last season and will look to build Mac Jones as a solid quarterback with Bill O'Brien coming back to the team as offensive coordinator. The defense remains strong, but both sides will have to have big years if the Patriots want to return to the playoffs after missing it for the second time in three years, and a win against the Eagles could be the spark Bill Belichick and company could use.

Lorenzo Reyes: Eagles 29, Patriots 18

I simply don’t trust New England’s offense after last season, even with the additions of Ezekiel Elliott and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Philadelphia, again, reloaded this offseason and might be on pace for a Super Bowl run. I think the Eagles clear four points with ease.

Tyler Dragon: Eagles 28, Patriots 20

Jalen Hurts has a picture of the Super Bowl 57 loss saved in his phone. The Eagles are on a mission this season after finishing runner up. New England is still trying to find its offensive identity with Mac Jones at QB.

Victoria Hernandez: Eagles 32, Patriots 14

The Eagles are seeking redemption after their underdog season fell just short of the Super Bowl title. Jalen Hurts has a lot of his arsenal still and the defense is pretty well stocked too. Bill Belichick is still piecing his Patriots together and will struggle against the crafty Nick Sirianni.

Jordan Mendoza: Eagles 30, Patriots 16

Recent Super Bowl runner-ups have proven its possible to still compete for a Lombardi Trophy the following year, and Philadelphia picks up right where it left off with a dominating win led by Jalen Hurts. The Eagles defense creates fits for New England, and questions still remain on a suspect offense.
