Peyton Manning sets NFL record with 51st touchdown pass
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning set an NFL single-season record for touchdown passes in a season, surpassing New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with his 51st touchdown pass Sunday against the Houston Texans.
"It was very special," Manning said. "Very rarely during an NFL game do you get to have a moment like that."
Manning passed for 400 yards and four touchdowns against the Houston Texans, including three in the fourth quarter. Brady threw 50 touchdown passes in 2007.
Manning broke the record with a 25-yard touchdown pass to tight end Julius Thomas.
"I think it's a unique thing and a neat thing to be a part of NFL history, even though it may be temporary," he said. "So I'm going to enjoy it as long as it lasts, and hopefully the Hall of Fame will send the ball back once somebody throws for more."
