Penn State’s Jalen Pickett makes preseason All-Big Ten team

We may be in the middle of college football season, but college basketball is creeping up on us. To drum up some preseason excitement for the hoops season, the Big Ten unveiled its preseason All-Big Ten team for the upcoming 2022-23 season. And a key Penn State player made the cut.

Jalen Pickett was among the 11 players around the Big Ten named to this year’s preseason All-Big Ten team. The Big Ten unveiled the preseason all-conference name on Thursday. Pickett is the only Penn State player on the team.

Pickett was a key addition to the team via the transfer portal before the 2021-22 season under first-year head coach Micah Shrewsberry. Shrewsberry will be happy to have Pickett back for one final year on the court. Last season, Pickett averaged 13.3 points per game and 37.2 minutes played per game. Pickett recorded 35 steals as well. He was also one of the best in the Big Ten with his assist-to-turnover ratio (2.45).

Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis was named the 2022-23 Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year by a select media panel. He was one of three unanimous selections to the preseason All-Big Ten team along with Michigan center Hunter Dickinson and Purdue center Zach Edey.
