Pelinka: LeBron James is doing behind-the-scenes work for 2023-24 season

It looks like LeBron James’ comment following Game 4 of the Western Conference finals that he might consider retirement this offseason was much ado about nothing.

Most expected he would be back this fall for his 21st season and he would have another extremely productive season as long as he is healthy.

Days ago, after the Los Angeles Lakers had a very solid showing in free agency, James created a post on Instagram that showed support for the moves made.

On Friday, during the team’s NBA Summer League contest versus the Golden State Warriors, executive Rob Pelinka said the four-time MVP is putting in work to get ready for the 2023-24 campaign.

Via Lakers Daily:

“Well, we’ll always let LeBron speak for himself, but we were all excited to see his Instagram post the other day where he was giving love to his new teammates, and the great leader he is doing the behind-the-scenes work to get things ready for the season,” Pelinka said.

After James returned from a foot injury in late March, he said he may have to have the foot operated on this offseason in order to get it right.

With the excellent dedication he reportedly has toward keeping his body right, one shouldn’t be surprised if he has yet another MVP-caliber campaign this coming season, at least statistically.
