Paul George on Nets: ‘They got the refs in their pocket’

Apparently, Paul George was frustrated after he had only one free-throw attempt in the Clippers’ loss to the Nets at Barclays Center at the beginning of February.

On Sunday, he had eight trips to the line and Kawhi Leonard had six while Kyrie Irving got two and James Harden 11. The Los Angeles duo had one more trip than Brooklyn’s star duoe, but the Nets had one more as a team in their 112-108 road win.

Still, when George was asked about the difficulty with facing guys who “sell contact” on both ends after the loss to Brooklyn, the Clippers guard had something to say.

“It’s really hard; it’s really hard,” George said Sunday, per ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “I mean, I haven’t really got into the flopping game, but in today’s game, it’s smart, you know what I mean?

“It’s smart. They control the refs. They got the refs in their pocket, so kudos to the guys who are great at that part of the game.”
