Captain Shreve, Ruston, Huntington, Northwood among Friday winners

The Captain Shreve football team remains large and in charge of the District 1-5A race after stopping Natchitoches Central 32-24 Friday night at NSU’s Turpin Stadium.

The Gators (6-1, 4-0) got 17 carries for 149 yards and two scores from quarterback Quortni Beaner, while Jamarlon Otis added a rushing TD. For NCHS (2-5,1-3), Owen Smith completed 16 of 25 passes for 213 yards and three scores, all to Cam Davis, who had 105 receiving yards.

Ruston 48, Pineville 6: The Bearcats (7-0, 2-0) stayed undefeated with a pounding of Pineville (2-5, 0-2). Semaj Jones tossed TD passes to Ahmad Hudson and Logan Malone, while Josh Brantley had a scoring pass to Jordan Parker. Aidan Anding returned a punt 49-yards for a score.

Huntington 44, Woodlawn 0: The Raiders (5-2, 3-1) managed a shutout against the Knights (3-4, 1-3). LJ White connected with Kaleb Tucker for a TD while Jamarion Washington, Nyles Hullaby, Marcus Willis and Landon Gibbs also scored.

Northwood 42, Minden 16: The Falcons (3-4, 3-1) had a big night against Minden (1-6, 1-3). Falcon quarterback Hutson Hearron completed 15 of 24 passes for 207 yards and four TDs in the win. Tucker McCabe caught two of the scoring passes. For the Tide, Jakobe Jackson scored on a 10-yard run and Hudson Brown connected with Cameron Mitchell on a 50-yard TD pass.

BTW 50, Bossier 28: The Lions (3-4, 1-3) topped the Bearkats (1-6, 0-4) for their first District 1-4A win.

D'Arbonne Woods 35, Loyola 14: The Timberwolves (6-0, 2-0) remained undefeated with a win over Loyola (2-4, 1-1) in Farmerville. The Flyers had a 25-yard TD pass from Bryce Restovich to Jude Gaitan and Bryce Carpenter scored on a 1-yard rumble.

North Webster 21, Carroll 13: The Purple Knights (4-3, 2-2) broke a two-game slide with a District 1-3A win over the Carroll Bulldogs (3-4, 0-4) in Springhill. North Webster picked off four passes with Tutt McGlothan getting three interceptions including a pick-6. Kemaurion Jefferson also took an interception for the Knights and Jakobe Lawson scored two rushing TDs.

Mansfield 39, Jonesboro-Hodge 18: The Wolverines (2-5, 1-1) took a road district win over the Tigers (2-5, 0-2). Kalvin Jones scored three times for the Wolverines, while TJ Pegues added two scores. Damariuos Burns turned a 70-yard kickoff return into a TD for the Tigers.

North Caddo 42, Lakeside 24: North Caddo (2-5, 1-1) snapped a three-game slide with their first district win over Lakeside (3-4, 0-2) in Sibley. Mason Jackson had two TD passes to Chancellor Washington for the Titans, while Jackson also had 9 carries for 129 yards. North Caddo running back Tray Morris had a total of 205 yards offense and two touchdowns. Lakeside had rushing touchdowns from Eli Santelices, Jordan Case and Ken Miller.

Prescott, Ark. 31, Homer 14: The Pelicans (5-2) crossed the Arkansas border and came up short against the Prescott Curley Wolves (7-1). Katrevick Banks had two TD receptions from Zyan Warren for the Pels.

Magnolia Charter 64, Plain Dealing 20: Magnolia (1-6, 1-2) won their first game of the season by topping Plain Dealing (0-7, 0-3). The Lions' Aaron Reddix scored twice, while Jayden Ray added another TD and two-point conversion.

Haynesville 55, Arcadia 12: The Tors (6-1, 4-0) bounced back from their loss to Oak Grove last week with a district win over the Hornets (5-2, 1-2). The Tors spread the scoring around with Hayden Gilbert, Byruss Burns and Jayden Green each scoring twice. Arcadia's Omareion Carr turned a 97-kickoff return into six points while Ratrevious Jackson hit Tekyrian Abney on an 8-yard touchdown pass for the Hornets.

Thursday games

Parkway 21, Byrd 3: The Parkway defense came within an Abram Murray field goal of posting a shutout of Byrd Thursday night in a District 1-5A contest at Independence Stadium.

Kaleb Williams tossed a 24-yard TD pass to Jayden Lewis and had a 4-yard keeper to lead the Panthers (6-1, 3-1). The Jackets (2-5, 2-2) couldn’t get their offense untracked and managed just a 32-yard field goal by the Miami commitment.

Parkway held Byrd to 118 total yards and just 57 rushing yards on 30 tries. Antonio Gladney rushed 25 times for 155 yards for the Panthers, while Williams completed 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards.

Airline 56, Haughton 21: The Vikings (6-1, 3-1) bounced back from last week’s loss to Captain Shreve in dominating fashion against the Buccaneers (3-4, 1-3). Bob Patterson was unstoppable for the Vikings rushing for two scores while hauling in a pair of Ben Taylor TD passes.

Benton 49, Southwood 8: The Tigers (3-4, 2-2) posted some big offensive numbers against the Cowboys (0-7, 0-4). Greg Manning had an explosive night for Benton scoring rushing TDs on runs of 2, 8 and 55 yards while hauling in an 11-yard TD pass from Malachi Zeigler, who added a pair of rushing scores. Southwood senior Zamarion Tagalarie scored his team’s only TD.

Calvary 58, Green Oaks 12: The Cavaliers (7-0, 2-0) continued their onslaught in District 1-2A with a solid win over the Giants (1-6, 0-2). Kolby Thomas and James Simon scored twice each, while Aubrey Hermes, John Simon, Taylor Guerrero, Braylun Huglon and Ty Knight added points for the Cavs.

Cedar Creek 40, Lafayette Renaissance 0: The Cougars (3-3) posted a shutout in non-district action Thursday night against Lafayette Renaissance (1-4).
