Panthers open 3.5-point underdogs vs. Cardinals for Week 4 matchup

Despite their surprise upset win Sunday on the west coast, there’s not a lot of faith in these Carolina Panthers. So far, they have been the underdogs in every game they’ve played during the 2020 season. That won’t change this week, either. According to the latest odds at BetMGM, Carolina has opened as a 3.5-point underdog at home for their Week 4 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.

Of course the Panthers beat that team just one year ago in Arizona, boosted by four touchdown passes from Kyle Allen, which was the peak of his run as the team’s starting QB. That victory seems pretty meaningless right now given just how much this team has changed since that game.

The Cards made some changes of their own, most notably stealing wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from Bill O’Brien in a lopsided trade. Hopkins has helped bring Arizona’s offense to the next level but the real change is the development of Kyler Murray, who looks like he’s going to become something special. This is still a pretty flawed team though, evidenced by their three-point home loss to the Lions this week.

The Panthers made some strides on Sunday and their defense has been not quite as bad as most people were expecting heading into this year. An upset seems even more likely than this past week against the Los Angeles Chargers.
