Palm Beach Post predictions: Miami Dolphins will win 4th straight

A four-game win streak will be on the line when the Dolphins host the Panthers Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

Suddenly, a season headed toward the bottom of the NFL appears to have some life entering the final month of the year. Besides the game against Carolina, Miami likely will be favored the next two games against the Giants and Jets, both at home.

But - and there is always a but - this Dolphins team is just as likely to lose those games. And that is why we bring you these predictions every week.

The Panthers have the best pass defense in the NFL and are third in the league in sacks. Big problem for Tua & Co. Cam Newton has always given the Dolphins trouble on the ground and now Christian McCaffrey is a factor. The Dolphins need the big special teams play or two they haven’t gotten this season.

It's not hard to picture Cam Newton chomping on that Carolina-blue bubblegum and doing his Superman thing while gloating in the end zone at Hard Rock Stadium. But the Dolphins are on this three-game roll and since it's a home game, I'll stick with them and trust the defense to be kryptonite.

Carolina is feeling pretty good about itself with two wins in its last four games, Christian McCaffrey is healthy again and, of course, there's the return of Cam Newton. But the Dolphins have won three straight and despite two of those against teams with two wins each, it's all about confidence. And Miami finally is playing with a confidence we had not seen this season.

The Dolphins are winning with a defense that finally woke up and an offense just doing enough. The Panthers are tough on defense and Cam Newton is back. But the Dolphins defense will put pressure on Newton and Tua Tagovailoa will make enough big plays so the home crowd goes home happy to enjoy Thanksgiving leftovers.
