Packers president Mark Murphy hints at Jets being featured on HBO's 'Hard Knocks'

Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy seems to believe that the Jets, despite their private and public pushback, are going to be featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks" during the 2023 preseason.

In a monthly piece on the team's website, Murphy took questions from fans and gave a rather definitive answer about Gang Green and the HBO show when a fan urged him to never allow behind-the-scenes access in Green Bay.

"'Hard Knocks' is a great show and gives fans an inside look at a team's training camp. It also provides good publicity for the team," Murphy wrote recently. "The downside is that it can be a distraction and teams are concerned that other teams can learn information from the show. The best thing to do if you don't want to be on 'Hard Knocks' is to make the playoffs every year. The league (and HBO) can only require a team to appear on 'Hard Knocks' if they have failed to make the playoffs two years in a row.

"I'm anxious to see the Jets and the many ex-Packers on 'Hard Knocks' this summer – should be very entertaining."

Whether Murphy was speculating on the matter or has inside information on the decision was not known, but a report from Mike Florio of NBC Sports last week said the Jets are “bracing for” a "Hard Knocks" assignment this summer.

That was something head coach Robert Saleh indicated during OTAs he would not be interested in: "I know there's several teams that would love for 'Hard Knocks' to be in their building, we're just not one of them."

While the Jets' second stint on the HBO program has yet to be confirmed, fans can still get an intimate look at the team during nine 2023 Training Camp practices that will be open to the public, including joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 16-17.
