Packers GM, director of football ops attend Iowa State pro day

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and director of football operations Milt Hendrickson were both in Ames for the Iowa State pro day on Tuesday, according to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network.

Per Pauline, 49 personnel members from the NFL were in attendance for the pro day.

Among the players who worked out on Tuesday:

– Edge rusher Will McDonald IV
– Wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson
– Safety Anthony Johnson Jr.
– Defensive lineman MJ Anderson
– Edge rusher O’Rien Vance
– Offensive lineman Trevor Downing
– Receiver Darren Wilson Jr.
– Linebacker Colby Reeder

There’s a reason two top decision-makers for the Packers were at the pro day: McDonald could be a first-round pick at edge rusher, Hutchinson fits the Packers profile at wide receiver and Johnson Jr. looks like a strong potential fit at safety. The Packers have roster needs at all three positions.

According to Pauline, McDonald posted three-cone drill times in the range of 6.6 seconds, a terrific time for an edge rusher. He has 16 visits lined up pre-draft, but it’s unknown if the Packers will be on the list.

Hutchinson is 6-2 and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds and finished the three cone in 6.91 seconds at the combine. Per Pauline, Hutchinson looked “crisp and sharp” as a route runner and “caught everything thrown his direction” during the workout.

Anderson, a Minnesota transfer, met with the Packers before the pro day. He posted nine tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks last season.
