Packers fans dismayed by Lions fans at Lambeau Field, but that's the secondary market

GREEN BAY ‒ First, the good news: All of the teams the Green Bay Packers play during the next four weeks have losing records or are no better than the Packers.

The bad news: The Packers' next game, in Las Vegas on Oct. 9, is still pricey. The average get-in price is $445 down from $458 last week. It remains the most expensive on the Packers' schedule.

Packers fans lamented the heavy turnout of Lions fans Thursday at Lambeau Field, but it shouldn't have come as a great surprise. Night games always are an issue for Gold package ticket holders, who mostly live in Milwaukee and southern Wisconsin. That is doubly so for weeknight games.

Combine that with high enthusiasm by Detroit fans, who envision their first division title in 30 years and a reasonable shot at the Super Bowl, which they've never been to, and you get a lot of blue jerseys in Lambeau Field. The Packers don't like it and their fans don't like it, but with secondary markets as they are, it will always be a risk.

Packers fullback Danny Vitale, left, and Raiders fullback Alec Ingold exchange jerseys after their Oct. 20, 2019, game at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wis. Ingold, a graduate of Bay Port High School in Howard, Wis., is now with the Miami Dolphins. Vitale retired in 2021.

Of course, Packers fans are thrilled whenever they can pack an opponent's stadium with green and gold, so the irony should not be lost on them.

On the plus side, if the Vikings keep playing as they are, Lambeau probably won't be packed with Minnesota fans on Oct. 29. Or Rams fans on Nov. 5, for that matter, because they don't travel as well as divisional opponents. On top of which, this will be the fourth time the Rams play at Lambeau Field in three years, and they lost all three previous games. Some degree of Lambeau fatigue could be expected.

The average get-in prices for the Broncos and Vikings games moved little in the past week. At $146, the Rams game is about $60 per ticket cheaper than either of those.

Standing room tickets not meant for re-sale

The Packers announced they will sell standing-room-only tickets for all home games this season. The face value of SRO tickets is $93. The SRO section is on the fourth level of the south end zone.

As the standing-room-only tickets are designated by the Packers as not available for resale, any tickets found on the secondary market cannot be verified, so buyers should proceed at their own risk. If fans purchase standing-room-only tickets on the secondary market and encounter issues with the tickets, their only recourse would be to contact the ticket seller.

The get-in price averages do not include standing-room-only tickets.

How do we calculate average ticket prices?

For our look at Packers' tickets prices, we average the lowest ticket prices at 11 secondary-market websites: Event USA, GametimeGreen Bay Ticket Service,  SeatGeekStubHubTicketIQTicket KingTicketmasterTickPick, TicketSmarter and Vivid Seats.

Note that ticket brokers can add fees on top of the prices listed here, so actual costs might be higher.

The following are secondary market ticket prices as of Sept. 29:

Oct. 9, 7:15 p.m., Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas Raiders, ESPN/ABC

Face-price range: N/A

Average lowest-cost seat: $445

Price last week: $458

Range of lowest-cost seats: $333-$573

Raiders results: Las Vegas is 1-3. The Raiders were defeated 24-17 by the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

What matters about this game?: The Packers are 2-2. There is a realistic chance they could be 4-2 by the time they host Minnesota and Los Angeles at Lambeau Field. The Detroit loss was jarring to Packers fans, particularly because of the poor play in the first half, but the Lions are a team on the rise, and so far, Green Bay's season is playing out within the parameters of what was expected for the very young team with a new quarterback.

A Packers Everywhere pep rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. Vegas time on Sunday, Oct. 8, at PKWY Tavern Taphouse and Grille, 9820 W. Flamingo, Las Vegas.

Oct. 22, 3:25 p.m., Empower Field at Mile High, Denver Broncos, CBS

Face-price range: N/A

Average lowest-cost seat: $209

Price last week: $206

Range of lowest-cost seats: $160-$257

Broncos results: Denver is 1-3. The Broncos were embarrassed 70-20 by the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 24, but they rallied from a 28-7 deficit to beat the Bears 31-28 in overtime Sunday.

What matters about this game?: With highly-regarded Sean Payton as the Bronco's new coach this year, the team seemed to be getting its act together after last year's 5-12 finish, losing their first two game by one point and two points. Then came the total beat-down by the Dolphins, although Sunday’s comeback was impressive. The Broncos face the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs before the Packers arrive in Denver off of their bye week. That all seems to be to Green Bay's advantage.

A Packers Everywhere pep rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. Denver time at Tom’s Watch Bar located at 1601 19th St., Unit 100, Denver.

Oct. 29, noon, Lambeau Field, Minnesota Vikings, Fox

Face-price range: $129-$165

Average lowest-cost seat: $201

Price last week: $208

Range of lowest-cost seats: $154-$214

Vikings results: Minnesota is 1-3. The Vikings defeated the now 0-4 Carolina Panthers 21-13 on Sunday, but didn’t look that good doing it. But somebody had to win.

What matters about this game?: It's Packers-Vikings, which usually is enough to stoke Packers fans' emotions. Packers fans like to say, "The Bears still suck," but it's the Vikings they really hate. Also, depending on how they do in Las Vegas and Denver, the Packers could enter this game still in a race for a playoff spot, not to mention a division title.

Nov. 5, noon, Lambeau Field, Los Angeles Rams, Fox

Face-price range: $129-$165

Average lowest-cost seat: $146

Price in August: $123

Range of lowest-cost seats: $110-$230

Rams results: Los Angeles is 2-2. The Rams trailed the Indianapolis Colts 23-0 and came back to win 29-23 in overtime Sunday.

What matters about this game?: It will be the third of five and possibly six noon games at Lambeau Field this season. The last time there were even three noon games at Lambeau was 2020, and there were no fans in the stands during that COVID-cursed year. Packers fans should enjoy it, because if a Jordan Love-led team shows signs of being a contender in future seasons, prime time and late-afternoon games are sure to follow.
