Pac-12 analyst Jon Wilner believes JT Shrout is CU’s best option at Air Force

The Colorado Buffaloes rotated between Brendon Lewis and JT Shrout in an ugly season opener against the TCU Horned Frogs. Simply put, the Buffs’ offense was slow in the second half, and head coach Karl Dorrell faced backlash after putting Lewis in to begin the third quarter.

Now, with Air Force on tap in Week 2, Dorrell still hasn’t revealed his exact plans at QB. The likelihood is that both Lewis and Shrout play and alternate once again, which could make for another rough outing for the Buffs. As of Thursday, Air Force is favored by over two touchdowns at home against Colorado. Pac-12 insider Jon Wilner gave some interesting opinions on that and admitted that he believes in JT Shrout:

Which is worse: Losing by 25 points at home to TCU or being a 17.5-point underdog at Air Force? The correct answer, of course, is losing by more than 17.5 at Air Force. But we don’t think that will happen. Get ready for the JT Shrout show.

In Wilner’s weekly spread picks, he has Colorado beating the spread, which is certainly something. The triple-option system that the Falcons run might give the Buffs problems, but we’re also anxious to see which of Dorrell’s QBs he goes with in critical situations.
