Outlook: Nietzke hopes to set the foundation for what he hopes the DeWitt program becomes in the future. Bishop saved 62% of the shots he faced and Laing had 17 goals and two assists last season to lead the returners.

EAST LANSING

Last season: 9-11

Coach: Will Wismer (7th season)

Top players: Max Luther (sr.) A, Henry Mahler (jr.) M, Thomas Savage (sr.) M, Reed Drouare (sr.) M, Tommy Stout (jr.) D, Juston Aljaari (jr.) G

Outlook: The Trojans lost 17 seniors to graduation and are looking to their senior class to lead the program. Luther and Mahler were all-state selections last season and Savage and Drouare are third-year varsity players for East Lansing. Wismer said the goal for the Trojans is to be overachievers.

GRAND LEDGE

Outlook: The Comets lost 10 starters to graduation but have a core group of returners they will lean on as they aim to repeat in the CAAC and make a run in the state tournament. McDiarmid and Eberhard are fourth-year varsity players committed to Northwood. Parker (Monmouth) and Chenault (Lewis University) are other fourth-year players committed to college programs, while Cooper is in his third season on varsity and is verbally committed to Michigan.

HASLETT-WILLIAMSTON

Last season: 15-6 (2nd)

Coach: Adam Zarotney (5th season)

Outlook: Cooper is a big returning piece on offense and earned all-state accolades after finishing with 41 goals and 35 assists last season. Maloney is also a returning all-state performer for Haslett-Williamston.

HOLT

Last season: 10-10

Coach: Jonathan Edgerly (1st season)

Outlook: The Rams have limited players with varsity experience after graduating a large group from last season. Holt expects youth and senior leaders to contribute. Edgerly expects growth throughout the season.

LANSING CATHOLIC

Last season: 2-13

Coach: Rich Kimball (9th season)

Top players: Payton Allaire A, Logan Voss A, Owen Christie LSM

Voss had 32 goals and Allaire finished with 20 goals last spring for Lansing Catholic, which has a small squad but hopes to score a lot of goals this spring.

OKEMOS

Coach: Mike Van Antwerp (8th season)

Outlook: Regan, Miller and Ahearn are returning all-league and all-state selections for the Wolves, who have a young squad that Van Antwerp said is full of potential. The focus for Okemos is to grow throughout the season while testing itself.
